Chapter 11: Preparing For The Worst

*Evie Pov

    I woke up the next morning with the biggest smile plastered on my face. Remembering the amazing night i had with Aiden was pretty close to perfect. Just thinking about it makes me want to rip his clothes off. But my smile soon vanished when i rolled over and realized Aiden was nowhere to be found. Luckily now that we are mated it is a lot easier for me to mind-link him. 

    Aiden where are you?

After a couple of minutes of silence he finally responded. Office.

Office is all he said. Is he mad at me? I hope not, after last night i thought we would be even more attached to each other, but maybe he is still pushing me away.

"Aiden can i come in?"

    "Yes come in."

I stepped into the study and it was f*****g huge, i can only guess how big the inside of the pack house if his house is this big for one person. I look over to Aiden and he was sitting behind a massive brown mahogany desk with with him banging on a laptop. He hasn't even looked up from his computer screen to acknowledge my existence. Maybe he didn't enjoy last night as much as i did. 

    'Oh trust me he enjoyed probably even more than we did. I can feel Sam and he is purring to come out and play. I think he wants us to shift and go for a run with them.'

    'But Scarlet you and i have never been able to shift. Isn't that why you disappeared for so long?'

I was greeted with silence. For some reason she never wants to talk about when our bond was nearly severed. At least the silver lining in all this, now that we are fully mated we should be able to shift. Right?

    "EVIE!"

My eyes blink me back into reality and there i see Aiden standing in front of me looking concerned while shaking me. I guess i was off in my own world there for a moment. 

"Sorry i was talking to Scarlet. She has been acting weird for a few days. Did i worry you?"

    I bite my lip with anticipation of his answer, i want to get closer to him. I want to know everything there is to know about Aiden and i want him to know everything about me. Even though the very thought of someone knowing all my insecurities and every thought scares the living s**t out of me. 

    "No. I was simply annoyed that you came into my office and started spacing out. What do you need Eve?"

   I'm not going to lie his answer hurt me. Probably hurt me more than it should have but i thought- no i hoped that things would be different. That maybe i finally had someone in my corner of the world. But instead i get a moody asshole that acts like he is always PMS'ing. I for one am f*****g sick of it.

    "I came in here to find out what the f**k your problem is. I woke up and you were gone. I come in here and you are acting like the most annoying thing in the world. You may be use to f*****g every girl in town and ditching them the first chance you get but i don't. I have never been as intimate and vulnerable like i was with you last night."

I am fuming, so f*****g mad it's not funny. I will officially be Luna in a couple of days and the least he could do was treat me like it. I will not put up with his s**t or anyone else's. 

    "Evie-

Both our attention turns to the door which was flung open by a girl that looks to be my age and wearing next to no clothes. She was wearing a crop top that barely contained her boobs and if she were simply to walk in the wrong way you could see everything up her supposed skirt. It look as small as a dish towel. 

    Aiden started laughing and gave me a sideways glance and i forgot he can feel everything i am and hear any of my thoughts at any given moment. 

    Relax love she is harmless. She just has a bit of a crush, but not on me. On Jackson. 

Aiden said as he nodded his head to look behind her. Behind the skanky chick was Jackson looking beat red and with lipstick marks on the sides of her cheeks. I'm pretty sure he has a mate so maybe that's why she is dressing like that. To get his attention.

    " Sorry to interrupt Alpha, Luna but i have something to report and Felicity here followed me up. Wanted to say hi i guess."

    "Felicity it is always a pleasure. This is Evie Summers your Luna."

She simply nodded and gave me a smile while stepping behind Jackson. I really don't know what to make of her. I can't take her seriously in that ridiculous outfit. 

    "Hi Felicity it's nice to meet you. Can you give us a minute with Beta Jackson here and then he is all yours."

She smiled widely and ran out the room with the door closing behind her. She seems like a handful. 

    "Jackson you said you had something to report."

"Yes Alpha. It seems like just as we suspected your father is no longer on pack territory, but he didn't leave alone. He took 20 men and women with him. They have all severed there ties with the pack. It seems like he was telling the truth when he said he is building an army. He was last seen heading north crossing through the crescent moon pack. He slaughtered a few wolves along the way. Some children some elderly."

    I feel sick to my stomach. I knew he is unstable but he seems to be getting worse by the day. But to think he would kill innocent children for no reason is a new low. Even for him. 

"We need to find him Aiden. Before he kills anyone else."

    "Don't you think i know that? It's not like he left his to do list before he f****d off."

"I'm not blaming you Aiden. I'm saying we need a plan and we need to plan for the worst. I think we should call all neighboring Alpha's and come to an alliance. If your father succeeds in building an army we can only win if we all take him on together. Instead of falling one by one."

    They both looked at me with shocked expressions on their faces. Do i really come across as stupid? Was he hoping i would just shut up and stand there and look pretty? 

"Okay. Your right. Jackson send out a message to all of the neighboring Alpha's and request a meeting. Tell them that it is urgent and that they must all attend. There pack's lives might very well depend on it."

    "Yes sir. Alpha, Luna."

Jackson quickly left after saying goodbye and Aiden just stood there gawking at me. "What? Why are you staring at me? Are you mad that i spoke out of turn?"

    "No Eve i'm not mad at all. I'm impressed. I'm happy. When i told you i could never love you i meant it. I pushed so hard for us to be mated because i knew i could never be a strong Alpha without my mate, no matter how much i didn't want one. When i found you, you looked so weak and defeated i thought i could make you Luna in name only but now i can see that i was wrong. And i am beyond happy that i was. Because now in this s**t storm of a fight my father has started i have you, as my partner helping to guide us out of this mess."

I could feel the tears building in my eyes threatening to fall. It took everything i had not to start sobbing uncontrollably. I know it wasn't a deceleration of love but it was a start. 

    "Thank you Aiden. I understand, I hope i can make you love me one day."

Aiden just stood there with a small smile and whispered "Me too."
