“Felicia! So, you steal from him? You father has the monies, why would you do any of that?!”
“Tasha, relax. Dion has given me his cards to use as I like, so I have to get constructive. My dad won’t do anything for me anymore because I am too ‘lazy and dependant’ he says. Until I prove myself to be constructive, I am all alone. Tasha it’s tough out here. Luckily, my useless boyfriend has become useful now. I just need to act fast before he catches on. I’ve also ordered some cosmetics, I’m opening a salon, s***h beauty shop.”

Dion was ticking off the delivery list. He was personally training the new operation manager. He was avoiding the mistake done by the former manager whom he had fired a week ago for ticking on all the blocks without checking if everything was received first. “I want you to check first before ticking it off. A little mistake can cause a lot of damage. And I should stress again how important it is that your staff ensures proper pricing on every item on display. Am I clear enough?”
“Yes, sir.”
“And I believe I do not have to tell you to keep this space tidy. In fact, the entire building should be neat and clean at all times.”
“Oh, no. Absolutely, sir.”
“Do everything right the first time. There are no second chances on my ship.”
“Understood, sir.”
“I should leave you to it then.”
“Thank you, sir.”

The days went. Felicia found Dion working on his laptop in his home office. He had been like that the entire weekend, “Babe, are you ready?”
“Just a second,” he was focused.
She went and slammed his PC closed.
“Lady, you don’t go and do that!”
“We’re running out of time.”
“Ag!” he roared. “Sometimes I could take you and throw you out that window!”
“Quit barking and let’s go.” She made the way and he knew he had to follow. The entire day he counted down hours. He wanted to get back to his work.
“Felicia?” They were in the car by then. “Yes, my love,” she had a big smile on.
“My accountant. He’s complaining, amazing figures leak out of my accounts in very short intervals of time and it is confirmed that it’s from the cards I gave you.”
“I thought the money was mine to use.”
“On things you need. Huge amounts of monies are flashing out and I just don’t see what you’re doing with them. What did you do with the money, Felicia?” She could not answer. “This very morning, my Accountant told me that you have spent over R1, 5 million in two months! Two months, Felicia!”
“So, you’ll keep listening to him?”
“Ow… so what? He’s trying to tear us apart?”
She had nothing to say. He left the conversation there. He was looking out of his window, while the car moved creating a story for him to watch. It was a story of the buildings outside in the rain. The buildings ranged from big to small and from small to big again. People walked on pavement in their coats and some under their umbrellas. There were coffee drinkers and even shoppers like his woman in the car with him. He continued to look. There was nowhere else he could look since he wanted not to look at her beside him. She could feel his mood. It was not friendly at all with her. She knew that she was the cause. She only knew not to bother him as he would just ignore her.
Two kids, both boys, had themselves cuddled to each other. It was cold. Even the veranda of the big shops they stood at could not keep all of that rain away from them. They were drenched. They had jumpers brown with dirt on, torn by time and possibly hustles. The elders in their fancy blazers and colourful umbrellas only passed by. Dion saw the story. Felicia had seen it too. She felt passion rise on. She was saddened deeply.
“Stop the car!” she cried, and the driver pressed the brakes. She quickly jumped out. She went to them and when she returned, she was with the two boys. She had them get into the car. Dion was quick to cover his nose in his handkerchief. “You may go,” Felicia ordered once more, and the driver stepped on it.
“What sick woman are you?” Dion howled at Felicia. “You bring stinks in my breathing space. Do you seek to kill me? Well, there are many ways you can go about it. Chuck the trash out at once!”
Immediately, the little one opened the door and the moving car spat him out. The boy fell on his head and rolled on the street. “Dave!” the older one cried, he could feel his heart hit against his chest. The driver quickly stopped the car. When they looked back at the boy in the street, they saw him motionless. He laid there unconsciously so. The car behind came running on speed, suspense and tension was rising on the people watching in the car. The older brother quickly jumped off to try to run to his brother and hold him so that they would die together. Felicia had also abandoned the car, she wanted to hold back the boy from giving himself up like that, but she was too late, the boy was close enough.
