I sat in the garden reading one of my favorite romances, 'Saved by the Mafia King'. My normal spot is not on the bench by the lake where ma and pa like to sit. No. My favorite place is a hidden cove where the grape vines form a tee-pee. I have cushions hidden under here, so that I have somewhere to go when I need to get away.
With everything happening and everyone here for the party tomorrow, I needed a moment to myself. "There you are", Lin's sweet voice floated into my ears. I jumped, startled by his sudden appearance. "My apologies, Xiao gongzhu (little princess)", he said, squatting down to eye level. "Saved by the Mafia King", he read my book title aloud. I blushed feverishly as I closed my book and stuffed it behind my back.
