17. Returning Home.

[Mason]

"I'm sorry you didn't get all the answers you wanted." Zefa apologized when we got back to the Blackners coven.

"You don't have to be sorry for anything, we got more than what we'd hoped for," Sirius told her and patted her on the back softly.

"We are the ones that should be sorry for getting you into trouble, we're also really thankful too," I told her and she smiled at me.

We said our goodbyes immediately because both I and Sirius were already feeling sick, our wolves needed to be released to run free and they needed to feel the warmth of the sun on our bodies.

"I've been thinking about what Xander said," I told Mason as we prepared to leave.

I gave the list Jade had given me to Zefa and Sirius' aunt and they were gathering everything up.

"Which one exactly?" Sirius asked.

"Do you think we acted too quickly, like fools?" I replied to his question with another question.

"Too quickly." He raised his brow at me but then he seemed to be considering my words for a while before he replied. "I think we handled this more out of fear than necessity." He said finally.

"I think so too." I sighed.

"We should have waited to have concrete proof, our visit to the witches might have already reached them by now, they might already be aware that we know about them," Sirius said.

"Is that a good or bad thing?" I asked.

"It's both, it depends really, they might back out if they think we have the support of the witches or they may choose to do things differently." He responded.

"Don't think too much about it, we'll follow all the necessary protocols and we'll keep everyone safe." He added.

"I miss Jade," I confessed sadly.

"Yeah, I miss Clarice so much too." He told me.

Our journey to the land of darkness was not really a waste, we got to know about the possible homicidal cult that's after us and we got support from the Blackners, Sirius even got a chance to get connected to that part of his family.

We didn't have all the answers yet but I knew that we would do our best to keep everyone safe. I hoped the attacks wouldn't go any further but something in me told me that it wasn't over and because of that I couldn't let my guard down, not now.

"It will be a while before you wake up," Zefa said and blew that same powdery substance on our faces, we dropped to the ground unconsciously.

"I was wondering when you would wake up." Zefa smiled at me when I opened my eyes.

I looked around and I smiled softly when I felt the sun on my skin.

"You look really bad." She said and pointed to a mirror, I stood up quickly and made my way to it.

I gasped when I looked at my reflection, my skin was blue and it looked saggy.

"What is this?" I asked her in panic, I couldn't go to my mate looking like an alien from out of space.

"Your body is not used to being without a lot of light, it's because you stayed for a while in the land of darkness." She explained.

"My skin didn't look like this there," I argued with her.

"Yeah, it did, you just didn't see it or notice it because you were in the dark." She said, "Don't worry, it will go immediately once you take a hot bath with a lot of herbs that I've prepared for you." She added immediately.

"Thank goodness." I let out an air of relief. "Wait, where's Sirius?"

I looked around but I couldn't find him. I wondered how she had been able to drag two grown unconscious wolves to her house.

"He's already in the bath." She told me, pointing upstairs.

"He's awake?" 

"No, he's still sleeping but he's in the bath." She told me.

"Why?" I asked her, confused.

"How do you think he would react if he woke up and saw his skin like this?" She asked me smugly.

She was right though, Sirius was quite dramatic and he would have freaked out.

"So you chose to let me freak out." I frowned at her.

"I don't see you particularly freaking out." She said, smiling.

"Cruel," I muttered under my breath.

"Did you say something?" She asked me innocently.

"I just asked to take my bath now." I smiled at her sweetly.

"Last door down the hall." She gave me directions and smiled as I grumbled walking away.

I walked down the hall and located the bathroom, it was not hard to miss, I nearly puked when I opened the door, the tub was filled with a green-colored substance and it smelled like sh*t.

"You expect me to bathe in this?" I asked loudly and she just replied to me with laughter.

I could see why she put a passed-out Sirius in the tub.

I peeled off my clothes from my body and tried not to look at my discolored skin then I lowered myself into the tub.

I held my breath as I submerged my body into the liquid. As soon as my body touched the liquid, it started washing off the coloring from my skin. The liquid felt warm and very soothing.

The longer I stayed in the tub, the more I ignored the vile smell and appreciated how warm and soothing it was to my aching joints and nerves.

I held my nose and pushed my face into the water and stayed under for some minutes before I rose back up, gasping for air.

When I got out, I found a towel and dried my body. I tried to find the clothes I had just gotten out of but they were nowhere to be found. I found another new pair of clothes in their place and I put them on.

As soon as I stepped out of the bathroom, I started smelling really nice like I had just sprayed on cologne. My own smell made me want to lick my body. I smiled when I walked back to the living room and stared at my reflection in the mirror.

"I can't believe you would do that to me." I heard Sirius complaining as he came down the stairs with Zefa laughing behind him.

"You were better off than Mason, I promise you." She laughed.

"You're awake, and looking good," I told him and laughed when he scowled at me.

"Don't be strangers." Zefa hugged us one after the other and followed us to the door. "Go, your mates are waiting for you."

Without replying or wasting further time, we ripped the clothes off our backs and changed into our wolves.

My wolf was bigger than Sirius' since I was an Alpha but I didn't transform into my true Alpha wolf because I wanted to run on two legs.

We raced through the forest and in no time, we got to the pack.

"Jade, come out baby, I'm back." I mind linked her still in my wolf form and I'm sure Sirius did the same because both Jade and Clarice came running out after a while.

"Mason!" I smelt salty tears as my mate embraced me and stroked my fur.

I rubbed my face into her and then I gave her a piggyback ride away from the others because I wanted us to have some privacy.

The pack understood that I needed some time with my mate so they didn't hound me after my return.

"Hi." I dropped her and changed back to my human form.

"Hi." She replied, blushing furiously and looking away from my naked body.

"Are you still this shy mate?" I teased her.

She didn't respond and I was glad that I still had the shorts I'd worn at Zefa's house, I didn't rip that apart.

I picked it from the floor where I'd discarded it and I put in one.

"You can look now." I smiled.

"You were gone for so long." She said her voice was breaking slightly.

So long?

"I'm sorry, Jade." I pulled her into my arms and hugged her tightly.

She hugged me back and I heard her sobbing quietly.

"I'm here now, I'm not leaving again," I told her, patting her back softly.

"How long have I been gone?" I asked her carefully because I had no idea of the time when I was in the land of darkness, it seemed like time worked a little differently there.

"Months." She sniffed. "Three months." She said and I gasped.

It felt like only three weeks.

"I'm so sorry, Jade, I didn't realize, time is different over there." I held her tighter wishing I could make up for the months we spent apart.

"I know, I went to the circle." She told me and I stiffened.

"I know," I told her, releasing her slowly. "I've missed you so much, Jade, I don't want to talk about anything else, I just want this moment to be yours and mine alone."

Without waiting for a reply, I grabbed her face in my hands and smashed my lips on hers hungrily.

She returned my kiss with the same intensity and she opened her mouth allowing me access inside.

My tongue met hers and the inferno continued to build, I pushed her back until her back hit a tree and we stopped moving backward.

My hands left her face and they trailed down her body. She was wearing a summer dress and I was happy about the fact that she wasn't wearing jeans. I was not about to be patient, I wanted her too much.

And she seemed to want me as much too, I ripped off her panties and she was dripping wet, I pushed two fingers inside her and she moaned my name.

"Mason." She pushed her hips towards my hand and started f*cking my fingers.

She looked so hot my mouth caught one of her swollen peaks through her dress and made a wet patch.
