38. The Silent Treatment.

1806 Words
[Jade] After Mason left the room, I spent the night crying myself to sleep then I became enraged at his behavior. Mason and I had never had a major fight before and after he left I felt scared and a million thoughts were running through my head. What if he doesn't want me again tomorrow? Every couple has fights, right? I tried to convince myself and then I finally fell asleep. The next morning, I woke up earlier than I usually did because I wanted to get to the breakfast table before Mason got there. I decided that though I spoke harshly, I did not have to be sorry. It was his fault for not listening to me and trying to turn things around and I was really angry at him for just leaving me alone in the room last night. As I wondered where he went, my thoughts started to go dark. What if he had left me to go be with another woman? It wasn't totally unheard of, mated wolves could still take concubines although most of them declined to. "You're going crazy." I shook my head and got out of bed. Mason would never do that to me, I trusted him that much and we were bonded, if he did something like that, I would know or more accurately I would feel the pain. The maids came in after a while and I took my bath. "Where is the Alpha?" I asked them when I was done. "He is in his office." They answered and I sighed, so he had truly spent the night in the office. I felt a bit guilty to think that he had spent the night on an uncomfortable couch. "Is breakfast ready?" I asked and they nodded leading me to the door. "Do you know if the Alpha has arrived there?" I asked them nervously and they shook their heads. Was he not going to come for breakfast? I walked to the breakfast table and kissed my mother good morning, she smiled at me and then I greeted Sirius who mumbled something back to me, Liya and Jay we're late, probably something that had to do with the baby. It was difficult for them to adjust to their new lives as parents. "Dine must have kept them up last night," I said, gesturing to their seats at the table. "Such a sweet child, I hope they bring her to breakfast." My mother cooed, she really loved her grandchild. A while later, the new parents came down for breakfast with baby Dine in an arm baby carrier. "Oh, she's so cute." Everybody cooed at the baby when they got to the table. "Where's Mason?" Liya asked, looking at me. I looked away from her because I did not have any answers to give, she was about to say something when Sirius suddenly said. "Mason, what took you so long?" I turned back to see Mason walking to the table. His hair was disheveled and his eyes looked tired as he made his way to the table. "Good morning everyone." He greeted, avoiding my gaze. "Mac—" I was about to call him when he interrupted me. "Could someone please start serving the food, I'm famished?" I just looked down at my empty plate and didn't try to speak to him again. The servants came out and they started serving the food around, because of the tension between me and Mason, breakfast was really quiet and nobody really said anything. "Want to tell me what's wrong with the two of you?" Liya asked after we finished eating and I stole a glance at Mason. He looked at me for the first time that morning but he stayed silent. "We're having a fight," I said truthfully, hoping it would help us reconcile. "Why?" Liya asked and before I could respond, Mason stood up and left the table angrily. "Okay, I guess I am also done here." Sirius stood up and followed him. "I'm no relationship expert but whatever you'll work it out." Jay tapped my shoulder and carried the baby. "Just tell me if you need me to kick his ass" "Okay, I guess the issue came from you." Liya took a sip of her coffee after Jay left the table. "What is it baby, whatever it is you can tell me." My mother said and my eyes began to water. "It's nothing, we'll figure it out, thanks," I told him and left the table hurriedly. *** As the day progressed, the more agitated I felt, Mason did not come to our room and he was ignoring me every time we met. Even when we had a meeting in his office, he still ignored me and treated me very coldly. "I don't know what to do, mom." I went to her room when I couldn't take it anymore and I explained everything to her. "Honey, this… it's really not that simple." She sighed. "Having children, it's really important to wolves, especially someone like Mason, he's an Alpha, the other day Sirius was just telling me that he wanted us to have a child." "A child?" I stared at her in shock. "A-are you actually considering that?" I asked her. "I am actually considering it because I would love to have a child for him." She said and I frowned at her. I did not know how I felt about my mother having another child. "At first, I rejected the idea but then I gave it some thought and I realized that I couldn't be selfish, I have two children and that was why I didn't consider having others but Sirius doesn't have any children." "So what are you saying?" I asked her. "I'm saying it is not worth fighting over, Mason loves you and you love him too, ask yourself this question, if it were Mason in your shoes, would he think twice about this?" "So how do I get him to talk to me now?" I asked her, frustrated. "Oh, that's very easy, there are two ways to the heart of any man and I'm sure you know both." She said and winked at me. "Eew mom, gross." I smiled at her and then gave her a big hug. "Thanks, mom." I left her room feeling a bit better and then I headed to the kitchen. She was right, there were two ways to the heart of a man and I was going to try the first one, if it didn't work then I would try the second one. *** After some time, I stood in front of Mason's office with a tray of his favorite food in my hand. I was nervous because I didn't know how he was going to react but I hoped he would react well. I balanced the tray on one hand and knocked on a door I was so used to yanking open without delay. "Come in." His voice sounded cold from the inside and I knew he was aware that I was the one outside the door. "I-I just brought you some food." My voice shook as I entered the office and closed the door. He did not look at me and he kept on working on the files on his table. He sniffed the air twice and then pointed to an empty table without speaking to me. If you're wondering about his favorite food, of course, it is steak, he's a werewolf. I dropped the tray sadly on the table and stood before him playing with my fingers, he hadn't even looked at me. He pointed at the door when he noticed that I wasn't leaving and my heart sank. "Will you eat it?" I asked him and he nodded his head. I smiled at the little progress and then I became a little bolder. "Will you come back to the room tonight?" His head shot up at that and he studied my eyes intently. I expected him to speak when he looked at me but he just sighed and pointed to the door, disappointed I turned to the door and walked out of the room sadly. . . [Mason] Immediately the door closed behind her, I stood up from my table and took the plate of steak in my hands, it was almost raw just the way I liked it and it smelled so good. I felt bad for ignoring her but I wanted her to feel my pain, I wanted her to know how much she hurt me yesterday and I didn't just want to give in to her so easily. I thought about what Sirius said and I realized that he was right, I had never really talked to Jade about what she wanted to do and the first time she told me what she wanted, I freaked out because it wasn't something I wanted. It was important to the pack that the Alpha has an heir but it wasn't really compulsory and Jade didn't really say she didn't want to have a child, she had just said that she wasn't ready to have a child yet. In all honesty, the more I thought about it, the less angry I got and the more I wondered why we were fighting in the first place. If not that I truly enjoyed seeing Jade so sorry and clueless I would have talked to her and ended this cold war. "I heard she brought you a steak, why are you still acting like a child?" Sirius entered the office frowning at me. I understood why he was like this, my relationship with Jade was putting a strain on his relationship with Clarice since she was the girl's mother. "Hey, don't take out your frustrations on me." I laughed at him. "What did she do, make you sleep on the couch?" I teased him. "It's not even that man, it's the constant talking, she'll talk my head off soon if you don't reconcile with Jade." He looked at me pleadingly. "Oh, I have nothing against Jade anymore," I told him. "Then why are you still doing all of this?" He asked, waving his hands in the air. "Let's just say I am quite enjoying Jade's sorriness," I told him and he smiled. "If she finds out, you're the one that will be sorry." He said and suddenly the door burst open. "Jade," I called her, she stood there with a bottle of beer in her hand, the blood drained from her face and she looked white. The bottle dropped from her hand and fell to the ground with a loud crash, I watched as her face went from white in shock to red in anger and she stormed out before I could reach her. Sirius was right, I was already sorry.
