40. The Black Sun.

[Jade] Just as I thought, the stone opened a portal and transported us from Zefa's house to the Blackners home. When we got there the whole place was in ruins, it was surprisingly very bright like it would be where we came from. Black fire was burning some buildings and it looked like the village had been raided, they were a lot of black bodies on the floor and I wondered if we weren't too late. "What happened here?" Sirius asked. "I'm not sure," I replied. "It's not supposed to be bright her at all," Mason said and I almost rolled my eyes. "No sh*t, Einstein." "No, I'm serious, the light is doing these people real harm." He said. "Why do you mean, witches are not vampires, they can come out in the sun," I argued. "Yes, but there is no sun in the land of darkness for a reason, when we came back from the land of darkness, we were blue, she had to immerse our body in some kind of liquid potion before we got back to normal." He explained. "You're not making any sense, I wasn't blue when I woke up." Sirius frowned. "That's because she didn't want you to freak out, she did it before you woke up," Mason said. "Did what?" Sirius asked. "We need to concentrate here." I frowned at them. "He's right, the sun is doing them harm, this is no ordinary sun, it's the black sun and it was definitely sent here by the cult because it is made from dark magic," I explained looking up and studying the sky. "Everyone that was outside when it got here got fried but some people must still be inside, I don't think we've lost everyone," I said. "We need to find Zefa and Zilla," Mason said and I mentally slapped my hand across my face. We rushed to the palace and the outside was in ruins, the guards had been burnt by the ball of flame. "Ow, ow, it burns," Sirius yelled and I pulled him into the Palace immediately. "What happened?" Mason asked. "Whatever was keeping us from being burnt alive is starting to wear off," I told him and we entered the palace where it was dark. "You have come, she said you would come." Some witches came out of the shadows and began paying homage to us. "What is going on?" I asked them hurriedly. "Where are Zilla and Zefa." "They're injured." A young girl answered. "They were trying to help everyone get to safety but they too began to burn." "And Lord Zora?" Sirius asked with concern. "He is also injured." The girl said sadly. "Take me to them," I said immediately and was glad that I had brought some healing potions with me. When we got to the room, the three of them lay beside each other on a large bed, they were still breathing bit they looked very bad, their bodies were black and they were almost unrecognizable. "What do you think?" Sirius asked me after I examined them. "They'll heal, thankfully I brought every potion known to witches but I don't know what we're going to do about the black sun outside, once it starts penetrating into the palace, we'll all be dead in a matter of hours." For the next few hours, Mason and Sirius concentrated on bringing injured witches to me while I tried to heal them, the potion worked on all of them but they were too weak to move. Soon most of them were healed but the bodies just kept on increasing and soon I was out of potions. "There's a young girl," Mason said. "I'm afraid the potions are finished," I said sadly. "No, she wasn't burnt, she was stabbed by a broken bottle and she's bleeding badly." "Fine, bring her and I'll try to help her." I could heal flesh wounds without potions but if she had lost a lot of blood there might not be much left I could do for her. "Quick, she's bleeding out." Mason dropped out on the makeshift hospital bed and I examined her wounds. Her stomach had been lacerated in multiple places and she was bleeding badly, she was a young child and I felt bad looking at her lying weakly on the bed. She was already unconscious but her pulse was strong and I had hope. Without wasting any more time I stretched my hands on top of her stomach and closed my eyes. Her wounds began to heal and close up popping out some glass shards that were still inside her. "How is she?" Mason asked me when I was done. "She'll live," I told him. "There are still more." Sirius came in carrying three more injured people. "I don't know how many more I can heal before I run out of energy," I told them honestly. Zefa, Zilla, and Zora had all been healed but they hadn't woken up and even if they were awake they wouldn't be able to do much because they would be really weak. "Please help my father." A child cried pulling her father's arms, he was one of the people that Sirius brought in. "Don't worry child, I'll help him, I promise." I rolled my sleeves up and went to work. I was able to heal about ten more people before I nearly slumped, this was why witches preferred to use healing potions than to heal with their powers. People thought witches were indispensable because they had powers but it wasn't real, our normal powers drain up our energy, and the more we use them, the less energy we have. When using spells and potions, we can save our energy, and only then can a witch be really powerful. "What about your apothecary?" I asked a young witch beside me. "If I could get some drugs, I can make more potions and restore my energy." "It was the first place that was destroyed by the black fire." She said and I sighed sadly. The apothecary had a thin transparent roof that allowed daylight to pass through because some potions needed a drop of daylight or some source of light to make, so it made sense that it was easily destroyed. Any plant or anything outside by this time would have all been destroyed, there was almost no more hope. I could have gone back for more supply but it was too risky and I was too drained to attempt it. "What are we going to do now?" I asked Mason. "We'll figure it out." He said and pulled me into his arms because I was too weak to stand. "Blood," Sirius said all of a sudden. "What are you talking about?" I asked him. "Werewolf blood." He specified. "Doesn't it count for something, can't you use it for anything?" "I'm sorry Sirius but we have to find another way," I told him and he looked away from me sadly. Sitting in Mason's arms was charging me up way faster than usual, the bond between us was giving me energy faster than my body could regenerate it. "I wished there was something I could do," Mason said sadly. I knew that he hated being so helpless. "You've done enough." I smiled at him and then I had a light bulb moment. "There's one more thing you could do," I told him. "I'll do it, anything." He said desperately. "You could kiss me," I told him and he stared at me in surprise. "Jade." He drawled. "No, I mean the sparks from the mate bond are giving me energy faster, maybe if you kissed me, I would get more energy." I tried to justify my statement. "You don't have to convince me to kiss you mate." His eyes turned amber and then blue again. . . [Mason] I grabbed Jade in my arms and kissed her passionately, she moaned and gave me entrance in to her mouth, I smiled before slipping my tongue in and tasting the corners of her mouth. "I've missed you." I rested my head on hers after the intense kiss. "I've gotten the energy I need." She got up from my arms and walked away. Jade was amazing and if I had ever doubted her strength, her actions today had silenced all doubt. My mate had singlehandedly healed over three hundred injured people and more were still coming. I liked the fact that I gave her strength because she also gave me strength. "Zilla, are you okay?" Sirius asked looking over my head and I turned to see Zilla trying to get out of bed. "Be careful, you need to save your strength," I told her and helped her sit up. Her skin had cleared but she looked very pale and tired. "We knew you would come." She smiled and grabbed my hand softly. "We came as soon as we found out that you were in trouble," Sirius said. "I'm afraid we've been attacked by the cult, I fear that they may have used us as a distraction to attack the pack." She said and I froze. Liya, Jay, Clarice, and the baby were the only ones in control of the pack. "Zilla, you're awake." Jade smiled and rushed to her side immediately. "Yes, thank you for your help." The older woman smiled looking around. "She just said that the pack might be attacked." My heart raced as I spoke. "I don't think so, the pack is fine." Jade brought out a green stone necklace from her bag. "The other half is with Dine, if anything was happening in the pack, we would know." "We all can't stay here though," Sirius said and I agreed with him. "You can't leave though, at least not yet, the shield protecting you from the black sun must have worn off, if you step foot outside, you will burn," Zilla said. "Yes, what is that and how do we get rid of it?" Jade asked. "It's very complicated," Zilla responded. "It's a curse and requires a very complicated magic to break." She said. "How complicated?" I asked her. "Like we need the rays of actual sun complicated." She responded. Jade thought for a while then she looked at me and Sirius. "We've got that." She announced happily. "What do you mean?" Zilla asked her. "Werewolf blood, their blood is so warm it sure contains the rays of the sun," Jade explained and Zilla nodded. "Took you long enough." Zefa smiled weakly and everyone cheered when she sat up. One by one the witches began to regain their strength and they got up from bed. Zefa, Zilla, and I began to work on the sacrifice that would break the dark spell the cult had sent to them. "Do you think there's a way for us to send it back to them?" I asked.
