Maverick kissed the back of Carrie’s neck. She moaned in her sleep, snuggling into him. He thought about what she had said. She believed that he could lead his pack again. He wanted to believe it too. But he still had his own doubts. Wyrd was uncontrollable and unpredictable. He didn’t know whether his pack could handle seeing him the way he was now.   “You see yourself like Kalan does. Though you blame him for behaving the way he does.” Carrie’s words echoed in his mind.
