“The mission is not over. It’s not over. Finish it,” Cien rocked back and forth. The words pounded in his mind as if someone was hammering them in. He clenched his jaw as the hammering became forceful and hard to ignore. Cien shot to his feet from the bed, and walked to the door. He reached for it, but then stopped when Kalan’s stern words filtered into his mind. “Don’t leave the cabin, Cien. I’ll come for you soon and we’ll go home. Do you hear me?” he’d said, standing over the bed, staring down at him. Cien didn’t answer him, but he heard what he said all the same. He shouldn’t leave the cabin.
