7 Seeing Dr Madison.

“Have a seat.” Carrie looked around the tiny office in Doctor Madison’s house. It didn’t look like what she had imagined. She thought that there would be more to it. She was the only doctor for all of the werewolves living in the area after all. Shouldn’t it be a little big with a lot of space to fit everyone in? “You don’t look impressed,” she said with a smile. “Uhh, it’s nothing.” Carrie shook her head, and turned to the doctor. She didn’t go there for that. She looked at Dr Madison. She was a beautiful woman with long black hair that came to the middle of her back. She sat poised and confident. Carrie could feel she was an alpha. And her wolf was responding to her accordingly, but instead of dominant vibes coming from her, as is with many alphas. Carrie felt calming vibes from her, as if she wanted her to relax in her presence. Carrie took a deep breath as she felt Hera, relax within her. There was no need to submit and grovel to her in order to get what she wanted. She was going to treat her like she did others. Carrie breathed out a sigh of relief. She was glad she didn’t have to submit and grovel. She really didn’t like that side of herself. It made her feel like she didn’t have a choice. And she didn’t need that here, especially when she wasn’t so sure what she wanted to do with the baby growing inside her. She knew that Mystic was happy that she was pregnant…'happy that she had a part of her mate inside her’ but she wasn’t. It just made her feel more guilty. And since she planned to reject him the minute he showed up. Carrie didn’t think she should be pregnant when she rejected him. But she’s never heard of a werewolf female terminating her pregnancy. She didn’t even know if it was possible. Hence her visit to the doctor. She wanted to know if it was possible. And if she could do it for her. Carrie closed her eyes as she thought of Mystic. She was going to be really disappointed in her. She wanted to call Sky last night after they came back from having dinner. But Carrie stopped her. She wasn’t ready for anyone else to know about her pregnancy. Especially because she was thinking of not keeping it. “What can I do for you?” she asked, placing her arms on her desk. She gave her a kind smile that served to make her feel more guilty. Carrie gulped. She wrung her hands together. Just say it, she told herself. She closed her eyes and blurted it out. “I am pregnant. And I don’t want to keep it.” There, she said it, Carrie thought, taking a deep breath. Dr. Madison stared at her. Her eyes narrowed on her face, and she could see them slide over her shoulder where her mating mark was. But she had it covered with her clothes. The silence in the office was deafening. Carrie tried hard not to fidget. “Is that something that a werewolf female can do? I’ve never heard of it being done.” “That’s because with us, pregnancy happens between mated couples.” Carrie nodded. She was mated. But he wasn’t her mate. She tricked him into this. “But in your case, I understand why you wouldn’t want this. It must be a painful memory, especially considering what happened to you in that lab. I am glad you’re doing well after what happened. I was worried about you after I last saw you. You didn’t look like you were doing well. But you look better now,” Dr. Madison said, smiling. “Yeah, my friends fought to get me here. I am still not fine, but I am getting better.” “I am glad,” Dr. Madison said, getting to her feet. She moved around the desk and pulled Carrie to her feet. Dr. Madison pulled her into her arms and gave her a hug. She pulled back, and gave her a smile. Carrie stared at her a little confused. She didn’t think she would find someone who would understand how she felt. “Come this way. I’m going to conduct a number of tests before we proceed.” “Alright?” Carrie said, feeling like a weight had been lifted off her shoulder for the first time in months. She followed her out of the office to another room that had a stretcher. The smell of disinfectant lingered in the air. “Sit on the bed for me,” she said. “I usually run a blood test, but I would assume you want this resolved as quickly as possible.” Carrie nodded. “Do you mind if I use my assistant? He has a special gift.” “No. I don’t mind.” “Great,” she said, walking out of the room. Carrie looked around feeling nervous and elated at the same time. It will be over soon, she said to herself. A few minutes later, Dr. Madison returned with a male that had this dark edge that reminded her so much of her alpha… No, she caught herself as she realized what she had just thought. He wasn’t her alpha. “Carrie, this is Dane. He’ll be the one to check you,” Dr. Madison said. “I’ll give you a moment, Dane,” she said, walking out of the room. Carrie turned to Dane, and found him looking at her. She forced a smile on her lips, suddenly feeling nervous. He reminded her so much of him. He had that same overwhelming air about him. And he was big. Carrie took in a deep breath as he stepped close to her. “Just relax,” he said softly. She could tell that he was trying to sound as unthreatening as possible. But there was something inside him that was fearsome. And her wolf could sense it. She shied away from him. Dane looked at her. “ I am only going to place my hand on your stomach for a few seconds. I won’t do anything else.” Carrie nodded. It’s not him, she told herself as she swallowed her nervousness. Dane moved in close. He placed his hand on her stomach. And within a few seconds, he removed it. "All done," he said, giving her a smile. He walked to the door, but stopped as there was suddenly a commotion at the front of the house. He took off in a run heading that way. Carrie heard footsteps rushing down the hallway. “Put him in here,” she heard Dr Madison shout. Whoever it was came down the hallway to where she was. Carrie gasped as she stared at Marcus and someone with white hair carrying… No. It couldn’t be. Carrie slapped a hand on her mouth as she stared at the man they were lugging into the room. He hung lifeless in their arms. And there was blood everywhere. “Move,” Marcus said as they carried him to the bed. They dumped him down on the bed. Dr Madison pushed them out of the way as she ripped through his combat clothes. He roared as he somehow was startled awake. He swiped at Dr Madison with his long claws. She jumped out of the way. Dane and Marcus jumped in. They held him down. “Go and call William outside,” Marcus said to the white-haired man. Carrie had seen him before at Marcus' house, after they were rescued from the labs. He stood there as if he was in a trance, staring at Marcus and Dane. Carrie looked back at the stretcher, and she gasped. Dane…. the alpha had him by the throat. Dane snarled as his claws lengthened too. Whatever he was turning into looked similar to the beast that had him by the throat. “Kalan!” Marcus shouted. The white-haired man finally moved. He rushed out of the room. And a few minutes later, William ran into the room. Between the three of them, they managed to hold him down, and Dr Madison gave him a sedative. Everyone sighed as the drug took effect. He slumped on the bed, knocked out. Carrie stared at him. She couldn’t believe that he was there. They all stared down at him as if they couldn’t believe it either. Dane looked a little more shaken than the rest of them. Carrie suspected why. She sensed the same thing in him as she did in the alpha, the very first time she met him. She knew that there was something not right with his wolf, but she never suspected that it was something so dark and beastly. Her wolf coward inside her. This is what she was afraid of. Carrie shook her head. She couldn’t be mated to that. No, she thought feeling cold inside. “Damn, he is strong,” William said, walking out of the room. Dr Madison took Dane’s hand and silently walked him out. Carrie felt Marcus’s eyes on her. She looked up, and then looked away. “ Come,” he said, walking her out of the room. He came to a stop as they found Kalan standing just outside the room. He looked agitated as well. Dr Madison came back as well, without Dane. “What happened?” she asked. Marcus shook his head. “He came out of nowhere. Kalan didn’t see him. I am not even sure if he was coming at us or if the car hit him by mistake. It all happened so fast.” “Is he going to be alright?” Kalan asked, looking concerned. “Yes,” she said, walking back into the room. Marcus turned to her. Carrie held her breath. She didn’t like being in his presence, especially after what happened. Now, the alpha who mated her was a few feet away. It was even worse. “Why are you here? Are you alright?” he asked, looking around. Of course, he was worried since she was there. She wouldn’t be there if everything was alright. Fuck. She didn’t want him to know why she was there. She bit the inside of her mouth. “I’m fine,” she said, forcing a smile on her lips. “You should go home. It’s not safe to be here,” he said, nodding towards the room that the alpha was in. Carrie nodded. But she couldn’t make herself move. “Marcus, we need to go. Luke just arrived with the car,” William said, standing at the door. “Where are you going?” Carrie asked. “We finally called the first supernatural meeting as the Alpha Kings. And everyone responded, positively. We were on our way to the meeting when that happened,” he sighed, turning to the room again. “I have a feeling we shouldn’t leave him. I wish we could postpone, but we can’t. I am afraid no one will come when we call again.” “Go. I’ll stay,” Kalan said, stepping next to him. “There’s no need for all of us to be here. He’s knocked out now. He won’t be able to speak in a while.” “Alright. Let me know if anything changes,” Marcus said, walking to the door. He stopped and turned towards her. “Carrie?” She saw the question in his eyes. To him she had no reason to be there. And she didn’t but …she couldn’t bring herself to leave him. She didn't understand why, because she wanted nothing to do with him. She took a deep breath as Marcus continued to stand there and stare at her. “I’m leaving,” she said, returning to Dr Madison to get her handbag. She picked it up and walked out of the house. She got into her car, and stared at the house. He was here. Carrie closed her eyes. She knew he would come for her, but it was too soon. She wasn't ready yet. The baby... Carrie shook her head. What was she going to do?
