(22) Surprise!

The vacation was well spent, Lisa got well along with Adrian's family and so did Adrian.
She went back to her home and after a few months, Adrian came visiting and he met Lisa's elder brother.
It was now in August, just a few weeks before they resumed school, her relationship was once admiring,the numerous video calls the face timing, the nature walks, the treats,the dates and the times spent together.
It was one week before they resumed school, Lisa and Lydia were both preparing themselves for school. Roy was almost doing his final exams,he only had one week before he also opened school for third term.
The day finally came and Lisa traveled alongside Lydia.
Adrian was not yet in so Lydia spent a night before heading to her school.
Adrian came In a day later, Lisa had done some thorough cleaning in the house so it was sparkling clean.
It was one a few days before her grand day,her birthday, she was turning twenty one in few days time and she had no plan at all,but Adrian had a surprise party for her, it was to be held in one of the biggest hotels in Nairobi and it was to remain a secret till then.
He invited a few of his friends and also invited her friends over, he invited his parents and his two lovely sister but since Ray, Lisa's elder brother, had gone out for a business trip he wouldn't be able to attend the grand party, Lisa's grandmother was invited too.
Her birthday was on a Saturday a free day to most of the people, Adrian didn't know what Lisa loved so he engaged her friend Lydia who helped him arrange everything and also got her a gift, Lydia always got her dinner dresses and matching heels as her birthday gift slave was gonna get her the same present but with a different design.
On Saturday morning she woke up to find an empty space besides her,Adrian was not in, she called but his phone was not going through.
They slept a little bit late the previous day and it was almost at nine when she woke up.
She woke up and did her morning routine,she proceeded to prepare something for breakfast
After breakfast she decided to flip through the channels and find something to watch.
It was just ten minutes into watching TV, when her phone started vibrating, she checked the call and it was from an unknown number, she hesitantly picked up and pressed the receive button.
"Hello, Lisa speaking, how may I help you?"
"Hey Lisa, it's me Tina, Adrian's mom"
"Wow, how are you doing Mrs Tina?"
"I'm good you can just call me Tina or mom,or I'm I not your mother?"
"Of course to what do I owe this surprise call,you know I was bit expecting your call"
"Yeah actually it's an emergency, Adrian was involved in a car accident , it's said that he was coming back to the house and he was flown here and is currently in Nairobi hospital"
"Ooh my God tell me you're joking, no wonder I called his phone and it's off"
"I wish I was my dear, but it's true"
"Oh my God I'm coming over there,I'm on my way,how is doing?"
"He is in the surgery room and it'll only be fair if he woke up and found you here, he kept calling your name, and by the way to save the situation can my chauffeur pick you up he is in town, and it'll be easy and quick if you used private means"
"Sure yes, I'll give you his number, you can give him directions to your house, guess I'll see you here?"
"Yes sure mom"
After she hanged up, she proceeded to change into something more comfortable
After a few minutes of waiting, the chauffeur arrived,he was in a white Jaguar.
"Are you ready miss?" A young man asked her, he was well dressed in a dark grey suit and dark shades
"Sure call me Lisa"
"Sure then can we get going?"
"Sure",Lisa slid in the backseat and adjusted her safety belts
She tried calling Lydia but her calls we t straight to voicemail, frustrated she placed the phone back in her bag and buried her face in her palms
On the other hand, the preparations were already at it's peak, the pinade was that they were all almost done and by the time Lisa arrived they would be ready.
It was almost 2 o'clock but Lisa was not around
"Mom what do you think?"
"About what son?"
"About the whole idea of a surprise party for Lisa"
"You know I'm always in for your ideas, you now being romantic, steps from your dad"
"Speaking of dad,is he coming over?"
"Yeah he'll be here in the evening so keep your cool, and by the way Lisa's calling"
"Go ahead and pick my mom, I'll be in"
They were currently at five star hotel
"Hey Lisa, are you already in town?"
"Yes mom in fact we're at Nairobi hospital as we speaking right now"
"I'm on my way just wait for me,I had gone to grab some lunch for us"
"Son I'm headed to the hospital, we'll be back, and be ready"
"Sure mom"
With that, Tina slid into her dark Grey Marcedes benz and drove off to the hospital
At the reception she was met by a teary looking Lisa. She went and hugged her, they spent a few more minutes whole still hugging before they both blew a tiresome breathe
"How is he?they wouldn't let me in and I wanted to see him badly"
"He was operated on,the operation was successful but he still in the ICU"
"Ooh my God can I see him"
" Yeah only through the glass walls"
They both walked in the hospital, Tina hated the fact that she was putting her In a tight situation and a sombre mood but what could she do? After all she was gonna be happy by the end of the day.
The moment she looked through the glass walls he broke down, she cried
"Can I get you out of here my daughter? Adrian is strong he'll pull through this,but you have to be strong for him"
"I know mom but I can't help it, u gate seeing him in that bed" she said while crying
" I know honey look at me"
And Lisa looked at her
"I'm strong, I know my son will fight this and he will overcome but I want you to do me one favour? Be strong, you've been the strongest woman I've ever come across so please do this for Adrian if you love him"
"Okay mom I'll try"
"Good now let me take you somewhere, I Know it'll cool your mind"
They both walked out of the hospital and slid in her Mercedes Benz.
Tina drive towards the five star hotel,they got out immediately they reached the entrance. Lisa gave her a questioning look but she assured her that it was well.
They took the elevator to the 7th floor where the party was held at.
"I booked this room for you, I wanted you to enjoy and keep your mind off Adrian for a while,trust me this will keep you sane"
Lisa just nodded, Tina went on and opened the door to the room it was dark although she had already signaled the rest about their arrival.
"There are no lights, I can't see" Lisa said
"Relax it's being worked on, I just.."
Before she could finish her sentence the lights were suddenly switched on,Lisa got the most surprising moment of her life.
