It was after three days,they both went to the safe where their dad kept whatever they were after. They found a sum of money summing to 4M and gold balls, just from grass to grace.
It was on a Saturday morning, Adrian and Lisa were planning to travel on that Saturday but in the midmorning, they wanted to pass by their house in Narok before traveling to Nairobi the next day for Adrian's home place, they had promised to spend the Christmas holiday with them so they couldn't just bail out.
"Mom, I'll be traveling today with Adrian" Lisa shouted from her room
"But Lisa I just got here, you mean you're gonna choose someone else over your own mother?" Her mother asked with a smile tugged on her face,she was joking,her daughter's happiness was what mattered to her and Adrian did make her happy
"Ooh cut the crap dear mother, I can't choose someone over my own mother unlike someone else I know" Lisa said and her mother frowned
"Lisa, we already talked about this it wasn't my intention, despite we're all gonna move to Nairobi in those Porsche estates, we're gonna sell this house we're gonna start our own company, don't you get why I preferred away from you guys, it was to keep you safe" her mother lamented and Lisa felt really bad for accusing her.
"Mom I'm sorry I just couldn't hold back,I love you and I'm really grateful for your sacrifice, and by the way I can't wait for us to finally move to Nairobi"
"I know why you really happy about that,is it about Adrian?and by the way you've not introduced him to me yet, as your mom I'm hurt" she said as she feigned a frown on her face as she touched her heart.
"Come on mom, you know him already but I'll do a proper introduction to you after this"
"Good that's my girl, so is that sleek sports car yours?
"Yeah we were gifted by his dad on my 21st birthday, her mom got me a Mac iPhone laptop and Adrian got me an iPhone 11 pro phone my dream phone" she said proudly
"Wow so they're that rich, where do they stay in Nairobi specifically?" Her mother asked concerned
"Wow they stay in Karen and yeah they're rich as f**k"
"Stop the cussing Lisa, I warned you about that"
"Mom it's in our generation I can't run from the fact that I'm used to it, anyway I promised to be with them this Christmas holiday,so I can't just fail to go you know?"
"I understand my dear, when are you guys opening fro the next semester?"
"On 24th January mom"
"Good, can you come over after Christmas so we can celebrate the new year together as a family you know I wanna bond with you guys and as you Lisa you're my only daughter, I've missed the most important stages of your life but as your mother I'm here to cover up and compensate for the lost times, mothers are our best confidants and I'm willing to be your best friend ever, I wanna be there for you Lisa please give me the chance?"
"It's okay mom I'll just be there for a week then travel back you know I missed you so much" she said as she walked into her mother's embrace
"I missed you more princess" she said as she hugged her back
After the mother daughter talk, Lisa packed some few clothes since she was to stay there for a few days,she took her shower and joined the rest on the table, she met Adrian in the corridor down the hallway.
"Morning babe you ready?"she asked him
"Morning too, yeah I've never been this ready" he said back.
"Sure let's do this"
They both walked in the living room and joined the rest for breakfast in the dinning room.
Breakfast was served which combined of fried chicken, white and black tea, coffee, fried eggs,bread, and pancakes. It was taken in silence.
They still had an hour before they would travel so they both sat in the living room. Lisa sat beside her grandmother, Roy say next to Adrian, Ray had traveled back to his place because he had work to attend to and Kate sat across on a single seat. She cleared her throat to get their attention
"So Lisa you're gonna leave in a hour or so?" She asked
"Yes mom we got an hour before we leave"
"Well that's good, I've not heard a proper introduction with your boyfriend here, I guess it's time we got to know each other better, Adrian what do you think?"
"It's okay mom I understand, now that I'm now dating your daughter, whom God willing one day will be my wife and the mother to my children, I have to get to know you and recognize you as her mom and family",he said and Lisa blushed she had never though of being Adrian's wife but that's it I guess that's why people dated to become each other's companionship
"Yeah you probably right, so I'm Kate Lisa's mom, I know I've not been in her life for almost sixteen years and I'm sorry for that, situations wouldn't allow me to,I love my daughter and I wouldn't want anyone making her sad, but I can see you make her happy"
"Nice to finally meet you Mrs Kate, Lisa always told me her mom was beautiful and I can't deny that, I met Lisa one year ago and what I can say is that, she's the girl of my dreams, I promised Ray to keep her safe and happy and that's what I'm going to do,I promise to keep her safe for you, I'm Adrian Kimani, I'm from kiambu county but we currently stay in Nairobi, Karen to be specific, I'm a Kikuyu, my mom though is a kamba, I have two sisters, one elder sister is working her name is Debby and Sharon is in her second year in Nairobi University"
"Wow nice to meet you Adrian, I wish you guys all the best, I'm also from kamba maybe I might be knowing your mom, this is a small world who knows?" She asked and everyone laughed. They continued talking and chatting for a while before Lisa and Adrian excused themselves to embark on their journey.
As they hugged before Lisa got in the car, her mom called her aside
"My daughter, I'm happy for you and I'm glad Adrian is a gentleman , please be careful on the road and drive safe, give me a call when you finally get to your house,I'll be waiting, I love you princess"
"Sure mom, thanks and I love you more"
"Adrian please drive safely and greet your family for me" Kate said
"Of course mom, bye"
