(25) I'm so sorry,please forgive me

"mom?!" Ray asked surprised and everyone looked at his direction.
"What are you doing here?" Ray asked disturbed
It had been almost fifteen years since she left and Lisa never set her eyes on her. They assumed she got married somewhere else. She looked more thin than she ever was, though she was still the beautiful Kate they knew.
"Can I come in please?" She spoke for the first time and Ray gave them a questioning look asking for their opinion and they all nodded absently.
"Sure you can come in" he paved the way for her and she walked in, she looked tired and thin maybe she was going through a lot.
"So Kate what brings you here after all those years of abandoning your own kids after their dad's demise?" Her grandmother asked Kate who kept fidgeting on her seat, Seemed like she really had a lot to share with them.
Lisa never hated her mother ,she still had a soft spot for her but she still hated her for leaving them when they needed her the most, she wasn't going just to forgive her that soon before she explained why she left and why she did not bother to check on them all that time, Roy never had the chance to bond with his mother so much but he still recognized her.
"Tell us why are you here after all these years,or have you come here to confirm if we died or not well to your surprise we doing just fine" Lisa asked her
"Lisa give mom some time let her first tell why she is here even after I asked her not to show up", Ray said and she gave him the 'what the hell are you talking about' and Ray gave her the 'I know what I'm doing relax' look
Lisa stood from her seat and Adrian followed her,they both walked in the kitchen, Adrian following closely behind.
She was worked up and stressed,her mom was there,it had been a while since she last saw her she didn't know why she decided to come,well she was going to listen from her and know why she left and why she's back.
"Baby I'm sorry" Adrian said as he hugged her from behind, Lisa was trying to reach for glasses in the upper cabinet, his touch made her muscles relax a little bit,she felt quite good from his touch.
"Thanks,I'm just confused about all this,you know my mom coming back after all those years and looking at how thin she looks like, God knows what hell she went through but that doesn't mean I'm going to forgive her I must know why she left us"
"I know babe, I understand give her time she explain everything to you, meanwhile show me your room I relax a little bit, as you guys solve I don't wanna meddle in your family's business"
"Don't say that, you're family but I get it,you're tired you know you've been driving for more than six hours,you need to relax, my room is upstairs,the second door on your right down the hallway"
"Okay babe,I guess I'll see you after this" he said as he gave her a brief kiss on her lips
Lisa took six glasses and arranged them on the tray, she took the juice from the fridge,poured some in the glass jug and walked out of the kitchen.
She placed the tray on the glass table and served each of them a glass, poured some for herself and sat beside her Grandma.
"Where is Adrian?" Ray asked
"He went upstairs to rest he said he's not feeling well"
"So mum, everyone is here you can tell us what brought you here and where were you all those years, without checking up on us, plus I asked you not to come but you still came"
"Ray have you been talking to mum?" Lisa asked
" It's not what you thinking Lisa, I can't be talking to mom and fail to tell you guys, I met her the other day in the office, I was surprised when I saw her and she begged me to let her see and talk to you guys and I said no, I wanted to talk to you first before I say anything to her, despite you just came in today,I didn't get the chance to explain things to you but here she is let her explain'
"Okay then" Lisa muttered under her breathe
"Thanks for this chance, I'm deeply sorry for keeping things from you, and for leaving you guys the time when you needed me the most, I never had a choice but that doesn't make my mistakes justified,I'm sorry for leaving you after your dad's demise,I know what I did is wrong and that's why I'm here to explain everything to you. Before your father passed away, he had a clash with some friends of his,they had a deal which your father broke, they were hunting him down and by good or bad luck he died and since I was the only one who knew about it,after your dad's burial I got threatenings from them through calls and numerous messages from anonymous numbers,so I had to run away I knew they would never hurt you guys and I knew your grandma would take good care of you,I was to hide myself from them,cut communication with anyone from my family and you guys,and they actually believed I was dead so I had to leave and hide my existence,I flew to Canada where I've been staying with my late sister and her husband, till last month when my whole family were killed in my absence because of me, although the killers were tracked down and killed,but I still blame myself for the death of my family"
By the time she finished her part of the story,Lisa was sobbing silently, her grandmother eyes were puffy and teary. Everyone was sad and they actually felt for her
"I'm sorry for what you went through mom,you could have shared with us so that we could know the way forward but it's too late for regrets" Ray said as they both hugged their mother who was sobbing silently.
"And what is this thing that these guys were after if I may ask?" Lisa's grandma asked after a few minutes of silence.
"I also don't know,I just have the key to the house and the safe where Maxwell kept whatever these guys were after" Kate answered and they all gave each other a questioning look
