Chapter Fourteen

1722 Words
-Archion's POV-  “I can’t really tell.” The nurse healer says.  She continues to scan me with magic from head to toe as I lie in bed.  “Do you feel anything?” She asks me.  I shake my head. “I do not.”  Isaac stands with his arms crossed, watching me carefully from where he stands. Luke sits on a chair near the bed occasionally biting his nails and bouncing his leg up and down.   “All I can say is to give it a day, see if there is any change.” She says.  “And if there isn’t any change?” Luke asks concerned.  The nurse looks at both Luke and Isaac with an apologetic look.   “Then we would have to try other means.” She says but doesn't sound too sure.  (I know that she has no idea of what to say.)  A knock comes on the door, Isaac opens it and Marina comes in with Nolan. “My grandfather is ready. He wants to meet us in his office.”  “Alright.” We all nod and leave the nurse's station.  We arrive at the headmaster's office where Mrs. Adams, Zach, and the headmaster wait for us. Marina and Nolan stand next to us as well.  “We interrogated Erica and the other witch, her name is Grace. They told us everything. Erica was behind the whole artifact fiasco. She was tasked with charging the environment in the school with magic.” The headmaster says. “What? How? Why?” Marina asks.  “Magical items or even magic that is done in a certain spot can leave magic imprints in the environment. It’s like it charges the area with raw power making any spells cast in that place more powerful. And for the spell that they wanted to cast they needed a lot of magic. More than it is naturally created.” Mrs. Adams explains.  “So they charged our school with the magic that the artifacts would leave behind so that that witch could cast that spell she was casting on Victoria.” Zach states deep in thought trying to make sense of everything.  Mrs. Adams nods. “The good thing is that once that magic is used, it depletes from the environment. So that means that it was a one-time thing and they failed at it.”  (I have a feeling that it’s not going to stop them from trying again.)  “Who was that witch anyways.” Isaac asks.  The headmaster walks around to his desk. “Their coven summoned the spirit of an old witch, Endora. Apparently, Erica's sister, Jenny, was a vessel.”  “What is a vessel?” Marina asks.  “A vessel is a witch that has the abilities to communicate with the dead by lending them their body to do so but, only for a small period of time. Witches borne as vessels are rare and they have to constantly be careful, they can easily be possessed. However, in Jennie's case, to be able to house the spirit of this powerful witch, she gave up her life. Two souls cannot reside in the same body. That’s why in possessions the person possessed usually dies at the end of the spirit or whatever inhabits the body is not taken out.”  “But... what about Victoria?” Nolan asks. “She has Archion’s soul in her body, right?”  “Victoria's body comes from a line of dragons, her body is made strong. That is why her body is able to house me as well.” I say. “And that is why Endora wants it.”  “But she already has a body. Why does she want Vic?” Luke asks.  The headmaster turns to Luke. “Well, if she were to inhabit a normal human, that body would decay in a matter of days not being able to withstand the witch's powers, and then she would need to find another body. With someone who is a vessel, like Jenny, she would be able to stay in it for a few years before it starts decaying but with Victoria, or a draconian body, she would never have to change. Endora would be able to inhabit any draconian body but I have a feeling that she wants Victoria because of Archion. She wants to have his powers as well. “  “Ok... and why is she doing all this. Why was she even summoned?” Isaac asks.   “Erica, said that her coven wants to come out of the shadows.” Mrs. Adams says.  We all stay quiet.   “You mean like, come out to humans?” Zach asks.  “Yes, but of course not in a peaceful way. There are many in the magical society that think supernatural beings are superior to humans. And so they want to take over. But that is what the magistrate is for, they enforce rules and make sure that the balance is kept.”  “But, if they want to try and take over, they would need a very powerful being to do that.” Zach says deep in thought. “That witch was powerful but I don’t think she was that powerful, even though she had spells that I have never seen before.”  “Erica said that Endora is an old witch.” Mrs. Adams says.  I look at her curiously. “That's all she said about this Endora?”  I watch them carefully. (… They don’t know who she really is.)  The headmaster nods. “Yes. She said that Endora was going to teach them old spells that have been forgotten or lost. Probably very dark magic.”  “Oh, you all have no idea.” I say and they all look at me. “Erica hasn’t been completely truthful.”  “What do you mean? Do you know about this witch?” Mrs. Adams asks.  I nod. “I know who she is. And she is not just an old witch although she is old.”  “How old?” The headmaster asks with concern.  “Ancient.” I say. “Do you know who Lilith is?” I ask. “Lilith? Mrs. Adams asks confused.  “Lilith and Adam? From Adam and Eve?” I ask.  Everyone shakes their heads except for the headmaster, Mrs. Adams, and Zach.  “Lilith is a myth. Is it not?” The headmaster asks with concern.  I smile. “Aren't most people living in this school supposed to be a myth?”  He looks at me with a somber expression.  “Who is Lilith?” Nolan asks.  “Contrary to what you all have learned, Lilith was Adam's first wife, not Eve. She is the mother of demons. Endora is one of her many offspring.”  “Wait so Endora is a demon?” Luke asks.  “In a way, but most importantly, Endora created the first witches. She is the mother of witches.” I stop speaking and let it all sink in.  They all look scared and lost in thought.  “So now you see why this is all very problematic.” I say.  Marina sighs and looks at me with a condescending look. “Are you sure? I mean how can you be sure that this witch is really her?” Marin asks rolling her eyes. “I think you are overreacting. I’m sure that this is not as bad as-”  “DO NOT PATRONIZE ME!” I shout cutting her off with command, making the room vibrate as my voice echoes through it and making the lights flicker. “How old do you think my kind is? We are made from magic and magic has existed since the beginning of time.” I take a deep breath and calm myself down. “I know of what I speak of, girl!” I spit out.   Marina cowers behind Nolan. “Sorry.” She says softly. She then speaks softly. “But what I mean is, Zach said that she wasn’t that strong so... maybe... you are wrong.” The last part is barely hearable. “PLEASE DON’T KILL ME!” She shouts afterward.  (I am annoyed with her, how dare she doubt me.) “That’s because she is not strong yet. That body she is in, even though it is a vessel, it can't house all of her magic. That is the reason she wants Victoria and that is the reason she had to charge the school with magic first.” I say almost growling not hiding my annoyance at her. “She is not going to stop and the worst part is that once she has been summoned to this plane of existence, there is no way of getting rid of her unless she wishes to leave willingly and I have a feeling that that is not going to happen.”  “She can’t be killed?” Isaac asks.  I shake my head. “She is the first of her kind. The first witch. Mother to all other witches. In ancient Greece, they would call her kind Titans.”  We all stay quiet for a few minutes.   “So, it’s safe to say that the Blood Thorn pack is helping them as well.” Isaac says softly deep in thought.  Marina starts to softly sob. “So then... we can’t do a thing. They’ll keep coming after us and eventually-”  “Stop being so pathetic, girl!” I shout cutting her off. “Do you not know a thing?” I almost growl feeling irritated with her. “Do you not know the story of the Titans?”  “Ha! Yes!” Zach shouts excitedly. “We can trap her!” He says now looking through his bag.  “What? Can we?” Luke asks.  “The titans from Greek mythology could not be killed so they were trapped in Tartarus by Zeus.” Zach says still looking through his bag. “Where is it?” He asks himself.  “So, so we can trap her then?” Marina asks with hope.  “Ah! here it is.” Zach takes a book out from his bag.  That’s the last thing I hear before everything swirls around me and my vision goes black.
