I went back inside and we rounded up dinner. Ellie and I took the empty dishes back to the kitchen and got them cleaned up. After that, Ellie went to sleep in the guest room and I slept in Liam’s room.
“Read me a bedtime story, mummy.” Liam requested as we both lay on the bed. I hadn’t spent the night with him for the longest time but before everything happened, I always read him bedtime stories.
I wasn’t even halfway through the story before he slept off. I tucked him in and went to sleep almost immediately.
I woke up the next morning to see everyone was already up. I checked the time to see it was almost noon. I also got multiple calls and texts from Vito.
