It was the morning of Lara’s sweet sixteenth birthday. I had planned her birthday party. Having to speak to James to get his approval on the party I wanted to throw for Lara. He had behaved like a child every step of the way. If I wanted funds to buy party supplies, he wanted dates in exchange for the funds. He had claimed it was so that he could show me who he really was. I had been three days into planning Lara’s party when I was about ready to tear my hair out and scream bloody murder.
