I stood awkwardly in the doorway of Alpha Grayson office. I was trying to wrap my head around everything that had changed recently. I was his second chance mate and he had told me to call him James. The thing was, calling him by his first name felt… foreign… wrong… so, so wrong. And now, the cherry on top, I had just hijacked his phone call and given him orders like I was his… superior. Star put her paw to her head and said, “Oh, now you’ve done it, he is going to put us in the arena for sure. Second chance mate or not, we have crossed the line. What were you thinking?”
“I… wasn’t…” I admitted.
“Clearly. Oh Goddess, this isn’t going to end well,” she replied, shaking her head in dismay.
“Heidi? Are you okay?” a voice asked, pulling me away from my conversation with Star.
