Jason
I was in the storage area of the giant walk in pantry when I noticed the crates filled with bottles of bourbon and vodka. I knew these were here ready for when the Alpha threw his next party or entertained some visitors from other packs. Our Alpha didn’t entertain outsiders very often. So, I knew he wouldn’t notice a few missing bottles of alcohol. I looked around and saw a tote bag lying on a shelf. Picking up the tote bag, I began filling it with bottles of bourbon and vodka.
Mind linking my best friend Troy, I asked, “Hey. Where are you right now?”
“In our room playing on our Xbox. Why?” he replied.
“Grab a couple of backpacks and come to the pantry in the entertainment hall,” I told him.
“Okay, see you in five,” he replied before cutting the mind link.
True to his word, Troy turned up five minutes later. I handed him the tote bag and took the backpacks he gave me. I began filling the backpacks with alcohol and when I was done, I told him, “Here, take these and hide them.”
Troy nodded to me before leaving to do as I had instructed.
I smiled to myself. We had alcohol. Now, we could arrange a party. No one would notice the missing alcohol and besides, the Alpha was able to afford to replace what I had taken. I smiled as I mind linked my friend Heidi and said, “Hey, planning to throw a party. Would you be interested in joining us?”
“Well, that depends. Who is us?” she replied.
“Me and Troy of course,” I replied, rolling my eyes. I knew she knew exactly who I was talking about.
“Maybe. Can I bring a friend?” she asked.
A friend? What friend? Wait… had Heidi met her mate? I hoped she hadn’t. I had been keen on Heidi for so long, I had been hoping that I would be her mate.
“Which friend?” I demanded, needing to know.
“Chill dude. I was referring to my friend Lara,” she replied.
Lara, the Alpha’s daughter. I laughed quietly at the thought of Lara joining us to party when I had just stolen her father’s alcohol. The idea was insane. But, if I was to say no, Heidi would be suspicious as to why I had said no. I didn’t know what to say or do about it, so I just said, “Sure, whatever.”
Heidi didn’t reply so I just cut the mind link and went back to work.
Lara
I don’t know how long I had been lying on Heidi’s bed when Heidi suddenly burst into the room, startling me. She stood in front of me with a big grin upon her face. “What’s gotten into you?” I asked her. “Did you find your mate today?”
“What? No! Eew,” she replied visibly shuddering.
“Well, what has gotten into you then?” I asked her, wanting to know why she was so hyped up.
“Guess who managed to get his hands on some top shelf alcohol?” Heidi told me in a hushed but excited whisper.
“Wait, are you saying that Jason and Troy stole my father’s alcohol?” I asked her, feeling a knot forming in the pit of my stomach.
“Yeah, from my understanding of it, they’ve been gathering it up for months. But today Jason got his hands on some top shelf stuff. Troy mind linked me just before I got back here and told me that they are going to have a party tonight,” she told me grinning happily.
“Where?” I asked.
“Out in the woods. The boys decided we would have a party where we wouldn’t be seen by anyone. We don’t want any issues with you know who,” she replied, giving me a sly wink.
“Would that be the you know who that the boys stole the alcohol from?” I asked her.
“That’s the one,” she replied, grinning at me.
“You do know what is going to happen if you get busted, right?” I asked her, wondering how it was that she wasn’t concerned about the possibility of them all ending up in the arena if my father were to find out about their party.
“We won’t get busted. No one will ever know that we had a party. The reason that the boys had been gathering the alcohol for the past few months was so that no one would realise that alcohol was being taken from kitchens and pantries,” she explained.
“You can’t honestly think that no one is going to figure out that copious amounts of the Alpha’s alcohol has just suddenly gone missing,” I stated, surprised that she hadn’t thought about this possibility. Heidi was a smart girl, usually she was the one who was playing it safe and overthinking everything. I just couldn’t understand why she wasn’t playing it safe with this party.
“Well… the Alpha does drink a lot,” Heidi replied with a shrug.
“She has a point,” Phoenix pointed out.
“I know she does. But still, this is playing with fire,” I told Phoenix.
“I have a bad feeling about this,” Phoenix murmured.
“So do I,” I replied.
“Look, why don’t you come and have some fun with us? It is going to be a great night. Besides, you haven’t seen Jason and Troy in ages. They are worried you’ve forgotten what they look like,” she said, grinning at me.
“How could we forget those two? Jason is a bucked tooth beaver and Troy is a little weasel,” Phoenix said, before breaking out in hysterical laughter.
I couldn’t help but grin at her little description of the two boys. She was spot on with how she had described them.
“What are you grinning at?” Heidi asked, watching me curiously.
“Nothing,” I told her shaking my head.
“Well, you are grinning like the cat that just ate the canary. So, there must be a reason why you’re grinning like that,” she said.
“Heidi, really, it’s nothing,” I assured her.
“Fine. If you say so,” she said, not looking to thrilled with my response. “So, are you going to come to the party tonight or not?” she asked me.
“Lara, this is going to end so badly. If Heidi attends that party, we will never see her again,” Phoenix pointed out.
“I know,” I assured her. “Okay, what time is the party?” I asked Heidi.
“Eight,” she replied. “So, will you be there?” she asked once again.
“Sure,” I said, making her smile.
“Awesome. this is going to be so much fun,” she said excitedly.
“Oh, I don’t think it will be,” Phoenix muttered.
When Heidi left the room, Phoenix asked, “What are we going to do? You know this party is going to end badly.”
“We are going to go to that party tonight and help Heidi to get out of this mess alive,” I replied. “Whatever happens, we make sure that Heidi is okay.”
“What about Jason and Troy?” she asked worriedly.
“There might not be much that we can do for them. They stole from their Alpha. If their Alpha finds out what they have done, he is going to be beyond furious. You and I have seen what happens when our father loses his temper. He puts the culprits in the arena. If he finds out what Jason and Troy have done, that’s where they will end up as well,” I explained to her.
“Are you going to be okay if they end up in the arena?” she asked me sounding worried.
“If that’s the outcome, there won’t be anything I can do about it,” I told her.
“Lara, they are your friends,” Phoenix murmured.
“Yes, they are. They are also the fools who stole from an Alpha,” I told her. “Now, enough discussion, we have stuff to figure out how to make sure that Heidi survives this night.”
With that I began to make my way towards the woods to try and find the location of Troy and Jason’s impromptu party.
