Phoenix and I had spent the remainder of the afternoon getting ourselves ready for the party that Troy and Jason had planned. Even though I had misgivings about the party, I knew I needed to keep Heidi safe. I walked into Heidi’s bedroom and saw that she was as happy as a pig in mud. “So, are you ready to get your party shoes on?” she asked giving me a wink.
“As ready as I will ever be,” I told her.
“Well, let’s get going then,” she replied happily, opening the door, and ushering me out of the room.
