For as long as Mara could remember, Antelope had always protected her. He would sometimes put off his friends to make sure she was alright. Antelope made it easy for Mara to live. Now, Antelope stood there with his finger pointing at her as he announced Mara's execution.
“You said that the only way out of here for us is to take away your life.” Antelope was standing close to Mara. His eyes were glued to hers and as he spoke of his betrayal to her, “We can’t live like this anymore, Mara. You must die. I’ve seen the people, they are suffering. I have suffered and all my friends have suffered. How many years has it been? More than thousands and thousands of years have passed. All that time, we tried to make it work. This can’t go on any longer. Mara, you must die.”
