CHAPTER 41: THE HELP THEY NEEDED
When Ali travelled back to the village, he was full of hope, looking forward on how relief his news would make the wolves was, as well as Lily. Because he knew how much they are hopeful as he left, he turned his back in spite of the worries that troubles him. He cares for her deeply. Although torn, because there’s this foreboding omen, which keeps churning his guts. It was as if something happened, something, which is not good to where Ali was trying to brushed off in his head. If it continues, it will only make him anxious, afraid, now that they had not yet found whether the disease might have been contagious or not. It did not make him sick nor had Lily, or so he thought.
Completely unaware to what sight would beheld him after his arrival.
But he isn’t quite near yet, when twigs snapped. His ears perked up. And a rotten smell filled the air, which only made him aware about whom it might have been belongs to.
“Rogue.” The same rogues whom he is, but the only difference was. Ali, same with Jasper and Devon’s scent isn’t as horrible as those who lost their sanity. Unlike them, they are sane. They can think straight. They have morals to know what is right, and what is wrong.
Moreover, they isn’t as grotesque as those but they remain on their normal form. However, how did he become a rogue in the first place? How did he was stripped and banish from the pack he had grew up with?
All the memories he had not yet shared, nor haven’t had the courage to do so flashed on his eyes. They were a reminisce to how Ali had suffered greatly, although a high-rank wolves.
“That’s Ali, isn’t he?” He heard one uttered as he passed. They are bickering, whispering as they watched him lead and guarded by two warriors, while his wrist are bounded by a chain. It keeps him in place, but the days where it stay the same left red marks, the reddening and discoloration of his flesh as it was made from silver. However, he feels numb. The burning sensation that would make him whimper seems like he had gotten used to it.
Because the pain inside his chest is more incomparable than to what he’s been put through. The betrayals tainting and repeating inside his head is much worst, much horrible as he least expect it to come from those whom he thought he could entrusted whole.
“Sshh, keep your voice down.” His companion castigated him as if not to speak, but it’s already done.
“And why not?” The latter ‘stead of asked.
“Because he might come after you.” That’s the last thing Ali heard before he was pushed inside the halls to where the judgment would be given.
He might after be him? He bitterly laugh inside of his head. He reckons that it was because of the crime he was blamed, framed to be at fault, when he didn’t commit any. Ali has been auspiciously blamed for the death of his peers. They are poisoned, yet comically he is the only one left alive, when everybody perished. And the eyes burnt him. They dig holes as they stared with malice. He is a warrior, he serve with loyalty, and never had he think of something audacious that could smeared his name, but now somebody did for him, and there’s no single person whom he can think would be horrid like that. How can they? How can their conscience let them sleep at night, while he suffers from the crime they should be the one who should be in those cells?
Thus far, how can Ali prove his innocence, when he is the only one who can telltale his words?
Harshly, Ali was pushed, to the halls where he was brought, everybody was present; their beta, the Alpha, the gamma, yet as his eyes fell onto one person he had not least nor see for several days, his eyes are both filled with confusion.
“Malia.” He uttered.
It was his sister, but there’s something odd on her that he can feel. Her eyes isn’t warm. They are blank and cold as they spared none, not even any single sympathy, neither care for his state.
As he frowns, Malia look away.
Ali was soon guided at the centre.
“I beckon that he is the culprit for what happened.” Alpha Dior speak. His voice boomed, and they are merciless. The wrath he felt is visible on their faces.
“I did not do any of it!” Angrily, Ali screamed on top ahead. He couldn’t stop, nor supressing the brimming emotion he was filled.
If they are mad, and so was he. If their soul is shattered towards the death, and so Ali, because they are his friends. The warriors who did is more than his brothers. How can they…how can they put his fingers on him, when they know that Ali daren’t betray, and do none of those worst case scenarios that they are blaming him for.
“Silence, you murderer!” The Beta bellowed. “How dare you be crude?!”
“Because I am telling you the truth.” His frustration brimmed, when he was innocent, but nobody believes him.
“We’ll see about that.” The Gamma uttered, he looks calm, and composed, but Ali knew better. Now that he is the head of them, of the warriors. He is his teacher, and he knew how disappointed he had become upon hearing the news. But that was least of Ali’s worries for now.
The Gamma’s eyes drifted towards Malia’s small frame. She was of a age, a wolf on her 20nth.
“Tell us Malia what you saw that day.”
She was asked. Ali’s orbs widened.
“W—what/” His confusion deepen.
His forehead in a profound ceased as he frowns. He don’t understand. Why is she being ask when she is not there, but them? Unless…
“I—I saw Ali…” Her voice trembled as she spoke. “I saw him went trade a wolfs bane from a witch—“
“That isn’t true!” Ali growled, but the guard who brought him there delivered a quick punched on his guts, silencing him for a moment.
Ali cough, and twisted as the pain meet his core.
“N—no.” He uttered, clenching his jaw as he bear with it.
His wrist bleed, the flesh, which tears off because of the silver metal he was keep in place, but he pays no heed. Nothing is more painful that his sister’s lies.
“Why…why?!” Ali carries the pang inside his chest. The walls cries, and so was his heart.
“I’m sorry, I—I know I promised that I won’t tell, but—!” Malia suddenly faced his direction. “—I shouldn’t be scared, p—please don’t kill me, bother.”
If he is shock, he was more dumbstruck at what was happening.
“W—why would you lie…” Ali felt the betrayals rising.
He don’t understand. Why those people whom you expect to stand with you were solely the one who us going to betray you? At that day, Malia shattered his soul more than anybody else.
He felt numb, paralyzed. Malia’s sobs raked, but Ali felt deaf. The deafening silence as he was filled with so many questions, so many why’s, yet they remain unanswered.
“So, that clears then.” The Gamma faced the Alpha, and they seems to agreed upon one decision.
The Alpha faced him, and so was the Beta.
“I, Alpha Dior of Red Moon Pack convicted the culprit guilty as charge.” His voice boomed. It thunders across the room, and bounce back on each walls. But Ali says nothing, nor when the judgement has been given to him. “As punishment, you will be banish, and never had you been retrieved back as part of this pack.”
That is one of the cruellest things that could happen to anyone.
Nevertheless, Ali did not resist, nor he defends himself. What would be the use of it anyway? They already eyeing him as the killer and no matter how much he say that he isn’t the one they were looking for, nobody would listen.
Soon after that Ali was thrown, freed, and the pain of the bond, which they tore, and stole made him feel nothing. He wanders off, waiting for the insanity to devoured him, but nothing of sort happens. He lost his dreams. He have none to rely on not until he met, and run across with Lily.
At first he thought, she was just pretending to care, but she did.
“Go away.” Ali growled threateningly toward the witch who won’t leave him.
“And why would I?” She introduced herself to be Lily.
She is a witch from Salem, who same with him wanders off as well.
“I’ll kill you.” He said, although Ali had not meant it that way.
“You could try.” She laughs, before she coaxed her own chin to look at him. “But I assure you wouldn’t stand a chance. Besides, I could have been dead, if you really mean it.”
“Then why don’t you just go away, if you knew that I don’t like you here?” Irritated, Ali continues on his way.
“I won’t, if you won’t come with me.” She continues in pursuit.
Ali rubs his temples.
“I told you that I won’t be your friend.” He keeps brushing her off.
“Why?” She frowns.
“Because I am a rogue, and you are a witch.” He didn’t know why he was sparing some time to explain it to her, when everything was obvious. But ironically, she keeps in firm refusal about it.
“I still couldn’t understand it.” She said.
“Oh god, you are annoying me already.” His exasperation was present to where the latter only laughs about.
“Well, it depends on you.” Lily crossed her arms above her chest.
Left with no choice, Ali was forced to agree on her. But had he not expected that by doing so, he’ll find home, Ali find the home he never found before. The home she offers same with Devon, and Jasper. They may not have been a pack, but the bond they had on them was undeniably strong. It was pure, more firm, and they have always each other’s back at times, where one is in need.
But the trance, and the memories has been cut off, when Ali heard a snapped. His eyes drifted across ton where it was coming, before a black mass leapt, and whipped pinning Ali on the ground. He was caught off guard, and the beast lay atop as it growled, yet what surprise Ali was the fact the beast scent intermingled towards who was filling his mind as of the moment. How can he not be familiar at her smell? The witch who provide him roof, when nobody did. The only person, who had accepted him after his banishment.
His canine prolongs and his eyes darkened.
“Lily…” He uttered her name dangerously.
**
On the other hand, Mika and the others prepared to do as what they have been told to, regardless of the unknown disease they might have face. She brings two healers with her, those who had been graced with the ability to cure, in spite of being a wolf. They are the gifted. Same with the witches of Salem, they can offer help through healing wounds and scars, but to cure one soul that has been lost for so long was beyond their ability and power.
“I hope we can find out what that disease Lady Ysabella’s letter was all about.” Anna said. She is Mika’s company and same with her, she is a gifted healer alongside with Ria, who is also packing her things.
“I hope so to.” Mika uttered. “Because if not, that would mean our stay would mean much longer than what we expected to.” She added.
“I am still curious.” Ria interfered. “Do you really believe the letter? What if it does not came from the lady?” She asked, looking a tad bit anxious.
“Don’t be absurd.” Mika said, “It has her mark, and her seal, and so we should trust her.”
“What if…?” Ria continued.
Mika sighs.
“Then we’ll find it out after our arrival.” She said firmly with finality on her tone. But she won’t deny that even she felt scared to the unknown disease they might face on the village. What more, if it was contagious and deadly.
