"Leave you alone?"
Auriane's words carried heavy pressure that seemed to have crushed like a boulder on Angel's chest the moment she opened her mouth to speak. For a moment she seemed to be stabbed with a piercing dagger, digging out her heart out of her chest.
However, it went as fast as it appeared, causing her to doubt what her eyes had perceived.
' How could Auriane exude such an dominant aura, impossible.'
But what Angel didn't know was exactly what she had so much ignored was going to be one of the reasons for her downfall. But she couldn't tell at that moment, she still strongly believed that Auriane was still her old self who was bound to crawl under her feet and follow her as a shadow, having no sense of direction.
She was unaware that the Auriane in front of her had once died a miserable death and was reborn, besides, not many people could believe such a mythical phenomenon.
"Sis, how could you say I'll be leaving you alone, ain't you regarding others as outsiders with no value."
Angel stiffened,as soon as realisation took her; she had causally made that sentence without thinking twice, but Auriane actually used it against her, making her look rude an unfilial.
Unable to change her words, Angel could only smile, but her smile was a little twitch. But she was able to regain her composure quite quick.
"Sis, d... don't misquote my words, I'm just worried about you and it's not that I don't value others presence, It's just me being too clingy towards a soulmate who's my age. You're barely thirteen, leaving on your own might be dangerous."
Dangerous!
Just how dangerous could it be, she might be thirteen, but her soul had already reached thirty and her past experience had been so arduous that she could live in the wilderness for years without fear of being hunted by beast. For that she had to thank her so called family, for inflicting her pain, fear, humiliation and torture.
The memories of her past life were still so fresh in her mind and she recalled digging a ground in order to hide from the men who had been hunting her like a prey. With no where to go, she caught and ate raw snake and wild fruits. She served as an apprentice in order to feed herself, but each time she could settle down, the hunters sent by her sister would soon catch up with her.
She lived a life of a fugitive, running from one shelter to another, doing arduous work for a piece of bread. Thinking of this bitter past, Auriane felt her anger surging up and it took her a great lot of effort to suppress. After a deep breath she finally regained control of herself.
"Sister, I'm glad for your concern, but do you also have no concern for Nora, does your affection carry a limit to only interest."
"W ...what do you mean?", Angel subconsciously took a step back, as if Auriane's words carried a truth detector, detecting the truth in her words, scrapping every bit of mensonge hidden in her soul.
"Nothing, I just feel that as my sister, you should not only care about me, but as well those who are dear to me. Caring only about me is like you have ulterior motives towards me. I guess sister is not such a person, right."
"Of course, sorry that I looked unconcerned, I just lack that close intimacy."
"I see."
Auriane couldn't be bothered with Angel and her schemes for the moment. She still had to prevent Alfred from chasing Nora away and letting Stella and Cindy have their way. She could already sense Stella's smug smile, contrasting to her show of affection.
"Like I said earlier, I'll provide Nora with a home at the vicinity of the White's mansion. And you're not allowed to follow her.", Alfred said sternly without baiting her eye, but how could Auriane actually sit still and take everything.
"How could you..."
Auriane was ready to stride forward and argue with Alfred, but her body was suddenly held back by a pair of white hands, making it impossible for her to move forward but stay rooted on the floor. She turned to look at the person who held her back, but she was surprised to see that she was stopped by Nora.
"Nora you ..."
Nora immediately cut her off with nothing more but a disapproving expression. Her eyes were shimmering, slightly red from probably holding back her tears.
"Thanks father, I appreciate your concern, I'll quickly pack up to leave for my new stead. I only hope you could help me look after Auriane, she's still young and a little immature."
"Naturally!"
Without wasting any time Alfred strode away, leaving the dinning hall. Soon Stella follow, him later on it Angel and finally both sisters stood alone soon as Cindy walked away with a sneer.
"Tsk, only the street fits you, hurry up and leave, don't tarnish uncle's honourable home."
Though Auriane was enraged by Cindy's words, she felt to lazy to deal with her. Her main focus was stationed on Nora who stood silently in front of her.
"Sister, how could you."
"Be good, help me pack up,will you?"
Without waiting for Auriane to give her answer, Nora stumped towards her room, leaving Auriane clueless about her decision to move. She was ready to defend her sister, find ever means that could make it impossible for Alfred or Stella to drive her out of the house, but if her sister wasn't ready to fight back. Then she could only be rendered helpless and as the saying goes, divided we fall, together we stand.
She was definitely too weak to fight against others by herself, not at such a young age when her movements were restrained by her minority.
"Sister, why on earth did you agree to move out?"
Auriane questioned her sister, as soon as she made her way into her room and found her packing. Obediently ready to move out of the house with her meager belongings that she had painstakingly accumulated over the years by doing part time jobs.
Considering that Alfred didn't treat her as a daughter, neglecting her needs was not surprising as well. But Nora didn't seem to be bothered, as if her lowly life was enough for her and she didn't mind to be reminded that she was nothing more than an illegitimate daughter born from an unfortunate one nightstand.
"I did it for the safety of my unborn baby."
Only then did Auriane finally understand the reason behind Nora's decision. It wasn't surprising that as a future mother she had to extra careful with her pregnancy and considering the environment she lived in, raising a child was indeed not appropriate.
"I understand, but why don't you want me to follow you."
"You're still young, but you've proven to be more mature than children of your age, but you're still too young under father's custody."
Finally realizing Nora's words, Auriane frowned but she was unable to refute or change that simple fact. For some reasons Alfred had claimed her custody and in her current age she was powerless against him. Constraints by a type of invisible chains, holding her captive in his world, his world that lacked love and affection.
Why would such a man claim custody of her?
Nevertheless, Auriane just knew that the current her was still powerless against Alfred's immense power.
Atleast, for now....
