It had been two hours since I went into labor, and very little had changed since then. The contractions had become more frequent and Xavier had said that I had dilated by three centimeters ... only that my cervix was apparently refusing to widen further.
Both Xavier and Maya and the older ladies of the Silver Sea and Bright Moon packs had reassured me, telling me that childbirth and labor were a different experience for every woman, but I couldn't stop worrying. I was about to give birth in a cave - not exactly the most sterile environment in the world - and with nothing to check the baby ... no monitors, no ultrasound, nothing.
