Chapter 20

1691 Words

The wind blew cold on my face, sending a chill down my spine. The deathly silence that seeped through the world was deafening. It was so quiet that I would be able to hear the smallest sound. There was none. It was as if everything from the insects to the trees lay still and quiet, waiting with baited breath for Kieran’s reaction. The God of the Moon stood like a statue a few steps away from us, his lips pressed tight and his body rigid with his muscles stiff. Kieran’s eyes were a molten color of black that felt like it was sucking the life out of me. I was speechless, my heart a hammer inside of my chest. Horrifyingly, I could still feel the warmth of Daniel’s lips on mine, reminding me that just seconds ago, I was kissing another man senseless, holding another man as if he was mine.
