Russel is responsible

The cars came to a halt at the entrance of Damon’s mansion and the guards all came down and remained on high alert especially after the attack that had almost taken his life. They were worried for their boss and most of them were in a very terrible mood because their colleagues had died along the way and most were in the hospital. It was a gloomy day for them, the atmosphere was dark and strange, it still smelt of blood and mourning. It had been so long that they had such an attack that had taken so many lives on such a bright day. Many attacks had truly come for Damon but they had all escaped a lot of it, and Aziza was a lot of help to them. They might not have seen most of the danger since she was always there to avert it herself and they might not have come in contact with a lot of attacks as of recent, but they were still trained men who knew how to protect their boss when they needed to. Most of them were ex-military, some had skills in martial arts and others in weapons. He was a powerful man who had created a lot of unwanted enemies over the years. Some he deserved and some he didn’t but they were supposed to protect him no matter what and they had done a great job over the years for that same cause. They lost a few men along the way, but they could not lose so many in just a day as they had just done in just a matter of minutes. The men that died were their colleagues and most of them had been working for so many years already. Having to lose them so suddenly had taken them by surprise and gotten them aggrieved and angry at the same time. But with all the moodiness and gloomy, cold and hard atmosphere in the environment. Damon, the very subject of the attack, had been in a totally different mood all together. Aziza still remained asleep in his arms and the feel of her and her even breath made him feel like he was dancing on the moon. Unconsciously, he caressed her hair and stared at her face throughout the ride. Her hair was very soft and silky within his hand and the very soft touch of it made him addicted. Her long lashes rested on her face and her entire look made her show a part of her he had never seen. A part that was unaware, and less grumpy. As she slept, he saw a part of her that revealed her angelic side. The cold and wicked look that made her look beautiful and wicked suddenly disappeared into one of the most beautiful creatures he had ever seen. She was beautiful. She was like an angel that had been sent from heaven to come down for him. But even if she was from hell itself, he would still classify her as an angel. Just watching the woman he had known for weeks sleep so soundly for the first time made him feel some kind of peace and serenity that made him forget that he had almost died earlier. Someone tapped on the window lightly, pulling his gaze and attention away from the woman who had been sleeping soundly in his arms. He snapped his eyes sharply to the window, angry that someone would dare to interrupt the peaceful moment he had with Aziza. Daciana had been out of the car just as the other guards who had been outside and were all waiting for the red hair and Damon to step out. But she was tired of waiting and was wondering what was going on in there that made them still remain in the car. The hostile gaze that rested on her skin made her realise that she shouldn’t have knocked on them like that. So, she nervously took a step back, feeling a strange and overwhelming power about that gaze. Damon turned back to Aziza who was still sound asleep. He could not bring himself to wake her up so he gently adjusted himself in the car and slowly lifted her head to avoid interrupting her sleep. Gently, he rested her head on the seat and slowly opened the door. To avoid waking her up as well, he left the door open and turned to her part of the car, then he opened it. He gently placed his hand at her back, then the other at the back of her head, before he lifted her up like a soft pedal that he might break if he squeezed her too much. Or a precious diamond that might be tainted if she was handled carelessly. Everyone stared in shock when he emerged out of the car with Aziza in his arms. She groaned at the sudden movement and slightly opened her eyes when she felt that things had become different around her. Damon stopped at her sudden movement, halting his steps, still unwilling to wake the angel that had only just been sleeping. “Shhhhh….Go back to bed,” he coaxed in a soft tone. One so soft, it was like the lullaby that was being sung to a child and soon enough, she found herself listening to that voice. She snuggled closer to his chest and slept once again. Damon took Aziza to the bedroom and gently laid her on the bed while Daciana followed behind them, loving the very way he was being so in love at that moment. Kane never treated her like that, and she found herself being jealous of the great Aziza. A girl who had known torture and torment all her life was now luckier to find a true mate who treated her as a mate should. She had seen the way he spoke to her. And had far realised that he was Damon Roxwell to everybody else except her. He covered her body with a blanket and made sure she was comfortable, then he went ahead to shut the curtain to stop light from entering just to give the sleeping beauty more time to sleep before he turned to Daciana. She was still naked and with his torn jacket. He started towards her and gestured that they walk outside. She had obediently listened to him, for fear of upsetting him. No one would save her especially since Aziza was asleep and the very power that radiated from him was enough to make one listen. He shut the door to the bedroom behind him and walked further away with a stoic look, one she recognized as the Damon she had seen from afar returned to his face. She wondered what it was that he wanted to say and felt slightly nervous at how serious he looked. When they were far away from the door, he finally stopped and turned to her. A maid came running towards their direction almost instantly, making it seem like there was a silent order he had given that only she could hear. “She would take you to a room. Wash up and a new dress would be ready for you,” he simply said. Daciana raised her brows at him, not understanding if that was simply what he wanted to tell her. “I didn’t want to wake her up with our noise,” Damon answered her questioning look and she smiled. She gave him a nod and watched him walk away and back towards the room he had just come from while the maid took her to a guest room. Damon had his wounds treated, and had a bath. Then he changed into comfortable wear and walked out of the room after checking on Aziza one more time. It was already time for dinner and he was rather famished, so he went downstairs to find Daciana there as well. She was talking with some maids and looking around in astonishment at the very house she was in. Damon was rich and wealth could be smelt at every crook and corner of the house. She had honestly never been in such a beautiful place before so she made sure she fed her eyes while she remained friendly with the maids who were setting the table up for dinner. They had indulged her in discussion seeing how friendly she was unlike the other madam they had met. She was an assassin and a murderer so they could not expect much from the red hair, moreover, they were scared of her. But Daciana was different and they had taken a liking to her for her good nature alone. “I see you are here,” Damon entered. They all went stiff and quiet the moment they heard his voice. Daciana snapped her head to the direction of his voice, shocked that he had been close. But the moment she met his gaze, she looked away. He still had a stoic and cold look on his face, making her feel threatened by him, not to add to his very intimidating and powerful aura that made cold crawl down her spine. “Yes,” she only responded and suddenly wished that Aziza would wake up soon. He was not so cold with Aziza and she might be free and less intimidated if he was not looking like the king of hell who was extremely handsome for his own good. “Are you hungry?” he ignored her fright. He didn’t mean to scare her but he was used to people acting that way around him. Only his family and Aziza could behave differently towards him. “Yes,” Daciana could only reply. He sat down at the head seat of the dinning and the maids immediately started working out the dish that had been prepared. “Come and sit, you can eat with me,” he added. Daciana had truly been very hungry but when she saw the man with silver hair and perfect face, she was not sure it was suddenly a good idea to be there with him. Still, she found it hard to decline his offer, so she nervously walked over the table and sat down. While her eyes unconsciously went to the stairs to check if Aziza would suddenly step out. She didn’t. Nervous, she pushed herself and tried to not focus on the prince who was sitting beside her and they both started eating. The room was silent and awfully quiet. Even when they had fought and killed a lot of people earlier, it didn’t feel like a ghost had walked past them the way it did at the dinning. It was so uncomfortable and it was really hard to eat or breathe in his presence. Daciana was not sure she could take it anymore. She had lost her appetite and found it hard to swallow her food, so she gently dropped her cutleries so no noise would be heard and made to get up. “Your bones cracked earlier…...” Damon entered, as he tried to ease up the tension that he unintentionally brought. More times than not, he actually didn’t care about his atmosphere, but Daciana had helped Aziza after all and in return he had been saved. He had to go out of his way. “Doesn’t that hurt?” he added. “Yes, yes, it actually does. All 206 bones in my body break each time I shift to a wolf and try to shift to a human again.” She sat down, uneasily but the conversation was about her and her wolf which she found thoughtful. He wanted to know about her and a part of her that was her whole being, anyone would want to speak. He raised his brows at her and looked away from his food for the first time. He simply could not believe that such a thing could exist and he could not believe the torture. “Yes, but it gets easier over time. You forget the pain and hurt when you start riding in the wind, feeling the soil within your paws while the wind caresses your furs. It’s enchanting and magical, I would never trade it,” she continued at his gaze. His lips twitched, for the first time, he found something other than Aziza that was exciting about the supernatural world. He just found out that he was one of them after all and though an accident had distracted them, he still recalled Morris’s words before he died. They hurt him more than expected so he pushed it away. “That must be beautiful,” he mumbled with a dejected voice. He didn’t even know what he was as of that moment. “It is….it is the whole of me and if I ever lose my wolf, I might die just like when you lose your mate,” she added. He knitted his brows, clearly not understanding her nor the words she was saying. But his thoughts suddenly went to the woman who was sound asleep in his room and he began to wonder what she was. “If you are a wolf, what is Aziza?” he dropped his food, seemingly filled. But just then Daciana picked up her cutlery, suddenly feeling the tension ease up. “She is something bigger than us all together. She is stronger, fiercer, mightier, faster. Our worlds consist of witches and vampires, demons and werewolves and she seems to be stronger than all of them alike.” She frowned, asking herself the same question that Damon had asked. What was she if she was none of these things? He paused his lips, not finding an answer in his question. “If she was that strong, what happened to her earlier? Why did she lose her powers and get hurt?” Daciana immediately lost her appetite again and her eyes dropped. She had been calculating about this all the while they drove home and she was sure of what had happened, but she was scared of telling Aziza or confronting Russel. He had put her in harm’s way with his act that was clearly oblivious to Aziza and she trusted him blindly. It made her feel anger towards the man and her trust for him disappeared at once. She might ruin the relationship Russel had with her if she tells, Aziza might not even believe her but she also knew that the red hair had been her weakest point at a time that she should not be. Her mate would have died, she would have died, it would have all gone wrong. Damon saw her expression and the way her jaw tightened. She knew something and he wanted answers. “What is it?” he pressed but the wolf said nothing. He stared at her and patiently hoped for a reply, but when she opened her mouth and shut it back, he could not help but feel nervous. “Daciana, if you know something, speak. It’s for Aziza’s good,” he added. Guilt flashed in her heart at his statement and she sighed heavily. “Russel is binding her powers.” “He is the one who had taken it, might not have been today since such spells need time to actually work. But he had been the reason why Aziza was powerless earlier,”
