CHAPTER 98
ALEX’S POV
The word seemed to tremble around me. I heard Sandra's voice continually coo at me and felt her touch but I couldn't react.
I couldn't do anything.
All I could see was darkness, my consciousness floating in the abyss as my body throbbed painfully.
And then, everything came to a stop.
My face felt warm suddenly, and light poured down on my closed eyelids. I stirred, my jaws locking as I forced myself awake.
Pain was the first thing I felt the moment I popped my eyes open.
It didn't come sharp–not at first. It felt heavy… dense, hitting once the bright light from the window beside me hit my eyes. It suddenly felt like someone had cracked open my skull with a jackhammer and filled it with wet cement. My head felt heavy, hard and my mouth felt dry.
