Chapter Five

(Rain's Pov)

I laughed at what Joe was saying and she smiled at me. Once she's comfortable with you, she sure is funny. "That's hilarious, what did you do after?" I said.

"We ran like hell! We weren't about to get caught trashing Cherry's yard, and they still never found out," she said.

I laughed again and said, "Wow, you're more hardcore than I thought." She smiled.

"What did you think I was?"

"Nothing bad, just because you're so shy I thought you were. . .well, I don't know what I thought," I said. She laughed and sighed. She looked around my room and gave a questioning look at something.

"Is that Johnny?" she asked. I looked at the picture of Johnny and me at the county fair and smiled at the memory.

"Yeah, he used to live next door and we were best friends," I said.

"What happened?" Joe said.

"He moved and he just changed. That's why I punched the barn wall. He was being an asshole to me," I said.

She gave me a sympathetic look and said, "Well, don't worry about him. He's an asshole to a lot of people. Ever since he started hanging around Cherry and Justin."

I nodded and asked, "What about Andy?" She shrugged and popped her gum.

"He's nice, but super protective over Johnny." I nodded and sighed. "Off of that subject, what's your boyfriend like?" she said.

I smiled a little and said, "He's super sweet. Although, I do have some issues with him. . ."

"I saw that. What did he do?"

"He cheated on me, but it's okay because he loves me," I said.

"That's sweet," Joe said.

"So, off of that. What kind of music do you like?" I said.

"Everything you like," she said, motioning to all my posters.

"Wanna listen to something?" I said.

"Sure." I smiled and got my iPod and put on 'Sugar We're going Down' by Fall out Boy. We started dancing and laughing and just singing along having a good time. I think I found my new bestfriend!

(Johnny's Pov)

After the movie we all went outside to have a bonfire. David brought out marshmallows and roasting sticks and we all sat around the fire talking. Rain came walking out laughing with Joe following him also laughing. David and Gabe looked at each other with a happy look on their faces. I guess they're happy he's not upset anymore. He sat down on a fallen tree and Joe sat next to him. I honestly don't know why he's hanging out with her, she's like the loser at our school. Rain's dads smiled at him and said, "Hey, Rain, who's your friend?"

"This is Joe, she's awesome!" Rain said. Cherry snorted and Rain snapped his head towards her and glared.

"Well, its nice to meet you," David said.

Joe smiled politely and softly said, "It's nice to meet you, too." They smiled at her and nodded. Joe whispered something to Rain and he started laughing.

"Really? Wow," he said and Joe smiled and nodded. Andy glanced at me and I realized I was staring at Rain.

"Uh, bro?" he said.

"Yeah?" I said.

"You okay?" he said. I nodded and took a deep breath.

"Fine, it's just. . .I'm supposed to be his friend. Not that loser," I said.

"First, you f****d up your chance. Second, why do you want to be his friend anyway? He's a weird, gothic loser now," Andy said. I nodded and smiled.

"You're right," I said. He smiled and ate his marshmallow.

"Of course I am." I laughed and continued roasting my marshmallow.

(Rain's Pov)

I smiled and laughed at what Joe said. She laughed and I saw Johnny glare at Joe. Is he jealous? I leaned over and whispered, "Johnny's jealous of you." She looked at me and snorted.

"Yeah right, why would he be jealous of me?" she whispered.

"I guess because you're hanging out with me." She nodded and ate a smore.

"Weird," she said. I nodded and sighed. First, he says he doesn't want to be my friend and now he wants to? What the hell is going on with him?! It's not that I don't want to be friends, but I just don't want to be hurt again. I sighed and put my head in my hands.

"My life is too complicated," I said to Joe. She put her hand on my shoulder and smiled.

"Isn't everybody's?" I smiled a little and nodded.

"Yeah, I guess." She went back to eating her smore and I got up.

"I'm going to go check on Ying Yang and put the horses in the barn," I said. My dads nodded and I started to walk down to the barn. After fifteen minutes of me walking I got to the barn and went inside. I got Sully out and started riding him to round up the horses and we got them all in the barn. I got off Sully and laughed when he nuzzled me. "Hey, boy, thinks for helping me," I said to him. He neighed and nuzzled me again. "You're sweet, now let's go check on Ying Yang." He followed me into the barn and we went over to his stull. I saw Ying Yang standing there and I smiled. "Hey, Ying Yang, you want to come out for a little bit?" I said. He neighed so I took that as a yes. I smiled and opened the gate. Sully went inside and Ying Yang came out. He was all excited and running around in circles. I laughed and he followed me out. I decided to take him for a walk down the trail and talk to him a little so he could get used to me. "So, Ying Yang, I need to tell you a few rules while the others are here." I know this seems weird, but I honestly love talking to horses. "Don't let anyone touch you if my Dads or me aren't here, and especially don't let Johnny go near you. He hurt me today, which you saw and I don't want you to get attached to him like Ruby did,I said. He whinnied and I smiled. Great, glad were in agreement. I laughed at my thought and kept on walking.
