(Johnny's Pov)
The rest of the students came back just after Max left. Cherry came in the house with her nose all wrapped up and she looked pissed. I had to hide my laugh as she glared at me. Rain was in the kitchen helping his parents make everyone lunch. Andy and Joe were sitting next to me holding hands. Cherry looked at Andy and Joe and her jaw dropped. "What the hell, Andy?! Since when do you like that loser?!"
Andy glared at her and said, "Since I figured out how amazing she is. So you can go back to your little b***h group and leave us alone." Cherry huffed and turned around. She walked outside and Andy smiled in satisfaction.
"Lunch is ready," Gabe said as he came in the living room. He walked outside and told everyone else and they all came into the house. I got up from my seat and Joe and Andy followed me into the dining room. Everyone was sitting down and there were four seats next to David and Gabe. There were plates of fish and vegetables on the table. Rain came out with a plate that had a peanut butter and jelly sandwich on it.
He sat down next to me and he said, "I don't like fish."
"I remember that," I said. He smiled and took a small bite of his sandwich. I then noticed he paints his fingernails black. I laughed a little and he turned to me curiously.
"What?" he asked.
"It's just I didn't expect you to grow up and become Gothic," I said.
He shrugged and said, "What did you expect?"
"I don't know. It's weird though. You used to be so short and now you're taller than me, wear makeup, paler than the average person, and wear a lot of black. What happened that made you start to dress like that?" I asked.
"Nothing happened, I just went to the mall one day, saw some clothes I liked, and decided to change my look," he said.
Gabe and David laughed and Gabe said, "I remember when he came home that day. I didn't know who he was, he walked through the door and I grabbed a baseball bat. I almost hit him when he started screaming that it was him." Rain laughed and nodded his head.
"I remember that, I almost cried from being so scared," Rain said. We all laughed and finished our food. Rain grabbed my hand and said, "Let's go hang out in my room." We walked upstairs to his room and he opened his door. I looked around at all his posters on his walls and ceiling. I looked over at his desk and saw a picture of Rain and me at the county fair. I picked it up and smiled at it. I remember that day, I won Rain a giant teddy bear that could barley fit in the car. I chuckled at the memory and Rain smiled. "I still have it." I looked at him confused and set the picture down.
"Have what?" I asked.
"The teddy bear. It's in my closet," Rain said. He blushed and looked at his shoes. "I sleep with it whenever I have a nightmare or if it's storming out."
I smiled and said, "That's the cutest thing ever."
"Shut up, I know you think it's babyish," He said with a small smile. I hugged him and kissed the top of his head.
"No, I think it's really cute. Can I see it?" I asked. He pointed over to his bed and I sat down on it. He went into his closet and pulled out the giant teddy bear. I smiled as he brought it over to me. It looked a little old, which it was, and had a few spots that were sewn up. "That's so amazing, I can't believe you still have it." I said. He blushed and hugged it close to his chest.
"It always reminded me of you so at one point I tried to burn it," he admitted.
"Oh. Why didn't you?"
"I just couldn't do it. I started crying because I missed you so much and thought that I did something wrong to make you forget about me." He looked down and I wanted to slap myself. How could I do this to him?
I sighed and said, "You didn't do anything to make me forget about you. I actually never really forgot about you, I just ignored you. I know that I was an asshole for doing that and I'm very sorry." He looked up at me and smiled.
"I know you are. I'm sorry for bringing it up again. Let's spend our last few days together without thinking about that stuff," he said. I nodded and smiled.
"Okay." He put the teddy bear down on the bed and laid down next to it. He motioned for me to lay down next to him and I held him close to me the best I could with the bear in between us.
"I named it," he said.
I laughed and said, "Of course you did. What it's name?"
"His name is Charlie," he said and closed his eyes and yawned.
"That's adorable, now get some sleep," I said. He nodded and we closed our eyes and fell asleep.
(Four days later)
(Rain's Pov)
I walked out of the house with Johnny and he hugged me. "I wish I could stay," Johnny sighed and I nodded with tears in my eyes.
"I know you do. I wish you could stay, too. But if it was really meant to be then we'll run into each other later," I said. He bit his lip before leaning down and kissing me. I kissed him back and we pulled apart when someone cleared their throat.
Dad smiled at us and said, "Sorry to interrupt, but it's time for Johnny to get on the bus." I nodded and hugged him tightly.
He kissed my head and said, "I love you, Rain." I bit my lip, so desperately wanting to say it back but scared to. I didn't know if I truly loved him yet. He gave me a smiled and squeezed my hand one last time before walking on the bus. Joe and Andy hugged me and got on the bus, too. I watched the bus go down the road and tears trailed down my face.
"Bye, Johnny," I whispered and sat down on my porch.
My dads came over to me and daddy said, "I'm sorry, Rain. I know how happy you were with him." I forced a smiled and shook my head.
"It's fine, if it was meant to be then we'll see each other later. Any word on how Ying Yang's doing?" I asked. Dad smiled and nodded his head.
"We can pick him up tomorrow. He'll need to take it easy for a while but he's doing good." I smiled and hugged my dads.
"I love you, guys. I'm going to hang out with Sully."
"We love you, too," they said and I walked out into the field. I walked over to Sully and he nuzzled me. I laughed and started to talk to him about Johnny.
