CHAPTER 02: IVORY THE BULLY   IVORY’S P. O. V.   The dried leaves crippled as I stepped on them. I’m on my way heading to school. As much as I wanted to stay out from humans, I can’t. The next full moon, I will be celebrating my 300 years of existence. That’s right! But I don’t have white hair, a wrinkled forehead, and saggy skin. I’m still fresh as a newly picked eggplant. If humans would call it on their terms, I look twenty-four and have an athletic body. I took a sharp breath and looked at my forever home—the forest. I feel so safe around the parameters of it. This is my territory, and I will fight until my last breath if anyone tried to take it away. I’ve had enough of humans, and I’m sick of them! I can see on the tabloid and on television, and they always portray the wolves as the bad guy, and the wolves are the ones killing their humankind! Which, in fact, we are not. It should be; they are the ones who killed my pack! Our kind! I got zero ideas if there is anyone from the wolf world who’s still alive!? Or am I the remaining wolf in this era? For now, I will conclude that I am the only wolf living in the human world. And for Christ’s sake. We wolves are civilized! We don’t eat human meat anymore! We opted for chicken, goose, and deer. Humans played dirty and made it look like we are the ones killing them. It is their tactic of eradicating us and another way of saying they hate wolves. And now, I’m on my way to school pretending I’m human. I take this as an advantage and knowing how cruel the human can get. Transportation is not a problem for me. I can run as fast as a racing car. I removed my clothes naked and placed them on the withering leaves of the lemongrass. I growl, transforming myself into a wolf. Grabbing my clothes once more as I run, heading to the building where they call the school. In no time, I arrived in front of the school, hiding on a Narra tree. I transformed back into a human and wore my clothes, fixed my hair, and walked normally. “Oh, God! He’s so handsome!” “Girl, am I in heaven? Cause I just see an angel walking in front of me,” “Choke me, Daddy!” I rolled my eyes at the back of my mind. These are the common phrases I heard every single day. I stepped on the side of the university. I don’t know how to feel about it. To me, it sounded like half-insult and half-compliment. When I was at the gate, a guard suddenly stopped me. “Where is your id?” he asked, crossing his arms. I scratched the back of my neck. I have to get past this guard. We’re not on good terms. Suddenly a car honked behind me, causing the guard to open the gate wide. I took the opportunity to run inside. I heard him yelling at me, but I ran fast until he can’t see me. I went into the freshmen’s cubicle and peed first. I will enter the classroom later after I pissed him off. Just a few minutes, and he will be coming. I shook my head and took a heavy sigh. I only had one plan. And that’s to annoy him, but… I was wrong. So wrong. Because while I was teasing him, I didn’t realize that my heart was slowly falling for him. But no! No! Humans are my enemies and wolf, and humans cannot love each other. My ears wiggled after I heard his feet stepping from afar. I closed my eyes and sharpened my sense of smell. My nose crinkled. I could smell his nervousness, haste, and his socks. I bet he was already in the hallway and running towards our classroom. I opened my eyes and grinned. I exited the bathroom and ran towards the hallway of our classroom. The bell started to ring, signaling that the class was beginning. I saw him in front of me walking fast. “Psst! Psst! ” I called him, but he ignored me. My jaw tightened. “Liam! Liam! ” I shouted, but he accelerated his walk even more until he ran. Oh, geez! “Baby girl! Liam! ” because of me calling her baby girl, he stopped running. I smiled evilly. “Ivory!!” I don’t know, but him screaming at me is like music to my ears. I laughed teasingly. “Oh? Why are you angry? Should anyone get upset when they are called a baby girl? I should have said to you, ‘Are you lost, baby girl?’ ”I winked at Liam. Liam got even angrier and almost smoked his nose and ears in rage. I started walking closer to him, and Liam started scolding me. “Look, Ivory. Can you stop bullying me!? I’m not happy with you anymore and — wait a minute. I own that jacket! How come you have my jacket!?” he snapped. “Who said you own this jacket?” I stopped walking beside him. “Well, duh! I know because I buy my jackets!” “You’re so noisy! Yes! Yes!  You’re the owner of this jacket. What now?!” I chortled. “You’re a thief!” he shouted loudly. It caught the attention of other students walking in the hallway. Their eyes stared at me sharply, followed by small gossips. “N-No! You, Liam! It is bad to accuse someone of stealing, especially when you have no evidence,” I defended myself. “What accusing? What without evidence? Isn’t it enough that I already know my jackets because I’m the one buying them!? ” I pulled him closer to me and hugged him tightly. Liam insisted on letting go of my hug. “Let me go, Ivory—” “One more noise, and I’ll kiss you,” I threatened. “You should be happy because I’m wearing your jacket, Liam,” I bit his left ear. He shivered. “And since when does PDA is allowed at school!?” we let go of the hug and looked to where the voice is coming from. “De-Dean,” Liam stuttered. I remained my stoic face. “To my office! Now!”
