Selena’s POV
I finished tucking Leo and Lilian into their warm beds and read them a story about a brave knight, kissed their foreheads, and closed only half their room doors.
I walked slowly down the hallway.
I was looking for Theo.
Somehow l'm always looking for him even against my will and I know that I'm not going to fall asleep until l see him or talk to him or just be near him.
I didn't have to look for long because I found him in the living room, but he wasn't relaxing. He was standing completely still by the window, staring out into the forest.
The light from the fireplace flickered across his face, highlighting the deep, dark bags under his eyes.
He had his cell phone pressed to his ear and l stood quietly in the shadow of the hallway, not wanting to interrupt his call.
