I watched Avery fidget through the rest of lunch, her cheeks still pink from Caleb's teasing. She kept touching the bracelet I had given her, and a warmth settled in my chest every time she did. Jackson and Luca were being their usual selves, joking quietly and leaning in to whisper things to each other, but I could see how nervous Avery was with her parents watching.
