George invited Daniel and his friends to join them around the campfire at dinner time. With Laura’s blessing, he prepared a small feast of items that had not been sold or traded during the market day. The six of them sat back on the grass with full bellies, feeling relaxed and happy. Only Seth seemed to be moody and subdued.
He had dutifully informed Laura, sharing with her the information that Matthew had passed from him. She had looked troubled, her brow furrowed as her eyes strayed over to the tent, but she wasn’t surprised. “I’ve seen as much,” was all she said before she continued to count out seeds into little envelopes she had folded from old newspapers.
