Rylee POV
I woke up in the morning not sure what to make of last night. A random wolf came to the house and sat with me while I basically spilled my guts. So far the only wolves we've had interaction with is Aiden's family and some of the ones at school. They've all been nice enough about us being humans. I needed to know who this wolf was, I felt so comfortable with him. Ryder came into my room dressed for the gym and I changed to join him. Luckily for me the gym had a court for basketball and one for volleyball. So I brought my knee pads and ball. When we got there of course Aiden and his little group were there. We were on the rack next to him for a full body work out, since it was the only rack open. After about 30 min I got annoyed of the girls parading around in front of him and us basically. I slammed my weight from deadlifting down, looked at Ryder and said "Rack it so we can play I'm f*****g done with this bullshit." He nodded and we racked all our weights and headed to the court. As soon as the sound of the ball smacking the court hit my ears I instantly felt better. The court was my safe place, no one our stood me when it came to volleyball. Well at least I could feel that way in my head. When Aiden and his group walked through the door I wasn't surprised honestly. His little posse on the other hand I could have done without.
Ryders eyes locked on Lauren the second she walked in. She showed an interest in Aiden like the others but I watched her eyes always shift to find my brother. That's probably why when she looked back at him he took off his shirt. When he caught my glance he shrugged and asked what? I just shook my head and said "Since when are you like that." His cheeks turned slit pink "You don't know everything about me." I raised my eyebrows and gasped at him but also had a huge smile on my face. "Sorry that was mean." I started laughing as he hugged me and I slapped his back. I decided to do what any good Sister would do. "Are you guys joining? Lauren be on my brothers team, We need to play against each other make it more of a fair chance for you all." I walked under the net with my brother glaring at me as we started to pass the ball over the net. Soon it was 3 on 3. Ally, Aiden and myself against Ryder, Lauren and Hayden. The play was light and joking. We shifted and rotated around the court but the flirting between Lauren and Aiden was getting on my nerves.
I ended up in the setters position and so did Ryder. "You good?" I shook my head, hands on my knees. I was playing horrible. I was letting balls go that I could have easily made. I wasn't blocking right, and my serves were off. "Your crush and Aiden keep flirting and its driving me nuts I don't know why. He doesn't have a girlfriend or so he says so he can flirt with who ever. But she flirts with him and then bats her eyes at you and I'm 2 seconds away from kicking her ass." Ryder laughed out loud making everyone look at us. "Easy Tiger." Ryder said putting a hand on my shoulder and pulling me into a hug with the net between us. "thanks bro" I mumbled and faced Aiden who had the ball and was eyeing me. I snapped. "Stopping staring at me like a piece of meat and serve. We aren't getting any younger." I clapped my hands and the awkward silence that fell over the court... deafening. He tossed the ball up and slapped it so hard when it hit the floor it popped. I started at my ball, my ball my old team got me. Joking like I was never going to play again. I planned to keep it till the summer before we went to college. I was goin to bring it for our annual camping trip and have them sign it. Now it laid on the ground flat. I looked at Ryder as my eyes filled with tears. He told me in my head, "Don't do anything stupid and ill get the car started." He walked over to our bags grabbed everything and started towards the door. I turned on my heel almost smacking right into Aiden's chest. I looked up at him as he stared down at me. He was about to say something when I have no idea what came over me. I lifted my fist and swung. My fist connected with his jaw. "You owe me a ball." Was all I was able to get out before tears hit my cheek. His head snapped back and his eyes bore into my soul. His nostrils flared in anger but I didn't back down. I turned around and walked out of the room, the building and into the car outside. I immediately put my head in my hands on my knees and cried while Ryder didn't say a word. Why was a guy getting to me like this. Its never happened before. I cant let this happen in college, I cant risk losing my spot on the team. As we pulled up to the house I left the car before it even stopped all the way and took off into the forest on a run. I heard Ryder calling after me but I didn't look behind me.
I ran and ran till my legs gave out and I could no long walk let alone stand. I sat on the floor of the forest as the tree loomed over me as I looked up seeing the darkening sky... I screamed till my throat was sore. I never felt like this. I never let guys get to me and cause me to think differently than normal. The guys I dated at my old school were just that. Guys i dated. Its hard to explain, I never thought of them as anything but a high school experience. I knew it would never go very far. I mean Im a virgin, when I wouldnt let them tap it they'd cheat. Of course I broke up with them but i was never heart broken. I was always fine. Always able to hold it together except for once. I stood wobbly but i slowly made my way back toward the house.
My sophmore year: I had made the varsity volleyball team which is a feat on its own. Being at practise with the jr and seniors girls felt awesome like i was in a very exclusive club. The upper class guys even started to notice me and say hi in the halls. Heading to science I was paying more attetniton to my phone rather than where i was walking and ran into the hottest guys in our school...Xavier. His chest was like a wall that i bounced off and almost fell when strong arms wrapped around me catching me. I grabbed on to his biceps as my phone hit the floor and i stared up to the most beautfiful green eyes. His dazzling white smile with perfect teeth. "Whoa. Dont worry i got you. Is there a fire?" He gently helped me back to my feet and upright. I shook my head and then realized i was staring. "No no soory just trying to get to class and was more focused on my phone sorry Xavier." We both bent down to grab my phone and bumped heads. I stood up and apologized again as he rubbed his head with one hand and looked at my phone to see if it was cracked. I watched as he flipped it over to look at the screen. "Well no crack, thats good. You know who i am but I dont know you." "im Rylee." He shook my hand and smiled again making my knees weak. "Nice to meet you are you new?" I c****d my head to side and looked at him confused. "You have the volleyball varsity shirt on." He pointed out. "oh. I'm a sophmore actually." I said. He raised his eyebrows. "Impressive, well you better get to class. Dont want to be late." he handed back my phone and walked off with the boys he was with. I looked behind me as he waked down the hallway. He looke dover his shoulder and smiled once more. I sat down in science and looked at my parneter and best friend smiling. "why was Xaviers arms around you, Everyone saw." He little smirk on her face I rolled my eyes. "Did they all see me not waching where i was going and smacking right into his wall of a chest?" Her eyes widen. "please tell me he is solid as he looks." I nodded looking at the table reliving the moment in my head. No one but sernior girls got with Xavier. under classmen just got day dreams about him.
As class started and my teacher droned on about cells and stuff. My phone pinged. a number i didnt have saved.
"Hey its Xavier. Making sure your phone works"
I wont lie and say i wasnt slightly giddy.
"Yea it works, thank goodness."
"Good i would have felt bad."
"why? I ran into you it would have been my fault"
"Well I saw you coming i could have moved or got you attention, but i was too busy checking you out. I can see why your a volleyball player you have great legs."
I shook my head. I took volleyball serious and its wasnt all about legs that made you a great player.
"Its not all legs that make you a great player. You should know captain of the baksteball team? Is it your wall of a chest that makes you great? No skill, practise, etc."
"*laughing emoji* Passionate I like it. So next question. will you let me take you on a date?"
I almost squealed out loud. "Sure."
The rest of the story? We dated, he broke my heart. He was my first for everything but I wouldnt sleep with him. So he went and slept with my best friend. I walked in on them during a party. He had her bent over a bed face in the mattress muffling her screams as he thrusted full force. He didnt even stop as he saw me standing in the doorway. Just smiled and grabbed her hair pulling her head back. She locked eyes with me and tried to stop but he kept going. I left there and ran home. School was fun, everyone was talking about the who he had hooked up with , after that i guess he started walking around making out with other girls. My best friend or at this point she wasnt any more. I walked by the boys in the hall with a full on glare, xavier couldnt even look at me. I was talking to my teacher about a new partner when she came up and hugged me trying to apologize. I had spent the whole weekend dodging her with the help of Ryder. I couldnt help it, I turned around and punched her. She landed on her ass as i yelled slut at her full of anger. I went to the princepal after that. Almost got kicked off the team, after that guys never affected me.
As i remeber this memory I tired to keep hidden in my head and heart i realized it was getting really dark and I was lost. I reached for my phone...Realization hit me....Its in Ryders car.
