Aiden POV

When Rylee asked about me marking her i froze, but movement and a scent brought my eyes to the door. Marissa was there. Tears were streaming down her face, her make up smudged. I would have in the past probably felt bad, but now? I feel nothing for her. Rylee is my mate. "I came to talk to you, to see if there was a way we could make us work again. I love you Aiden. Why would you choose a human over someone of your own kind?" She said to me. "I didn't choose. She's my mate. You always knew when I found my mate I would be with her and no one else. That is exactly what's happening." She cried harder and screamed "I SHOULD BE LUNA NOT HER. SHES WEAK. She wont know how to lead a pack of wolves." I could feel her anger. I picked Rylee up as I stood and placed her on the bed behind us. I walked slowly toward her and she squared her shoulder and stood her ground. "Insulting my Luna and mate is reason for war, and we both know your fathers pack will never stand a chance. Its over, its done. You need to leave and find your own mate." I linked Lauren to walk Marissa out and let the patrolling guards make sure she leave our territory. She left with out another word, but I let my father know cause this wasn't the end of it I was sure.

Rylee was sitting the bed quietly. She looked deep in thought when I came and sat in front of her. She kept her eyes on the floor and didn't move or say anything till I touched her leg and she jolted, her eyes meeting mine. "What's going on in your head?" I asked her worried this was going to push her away. "She's right. I wont know how to help lead a pack. I'm not like you. They could easily rip me apart and eat me." I shook my head and took both hands in mine and kissed each one. "They will love you because you are my mate. they will accept you as their Luna cause you're my mate. You just need to get to know them is all. A Lunas duties is to care for the pack. Make sure their needs are met. I protect the pack and you. Besides, you wont get thrown into the fire. My mom will teach you how to be a Luna and her duties." I say cupping her cheek. A single tear falls down and swipe it with my thumb. She gave me a soft smile. We were leaning in when I heard a car coming up the path. "Your parents are back." She nodded and we grabbed everything to head down. As we reached the stair Ryder was walking up, "Oh good mom and dad are back. You know how they'll act if they are caught in our rooms." "That's why we are coming down to the kitchen." Rylee said.

As we entered Lauren was setting napkins out for us. "I haven't met them yet, are they nice?" She mind linked me. I nodded "Remember though they are human so they don't know about us. Also don't say girlfriend just yet and make sure he covers his mark. Its still fresh red." Her cheeks turned pink. I guess she didn't know Ryder showed me her mark. We sat in silence as car doors were heard. I was about to say something when Ryder and Rylee looked at each other and both started to argue. "No you're wrong that was a dumb movie. It shouldn't even have been made." Rylee said. "No it was hilarious. For a low budget film it was great." She rolled her eyes. "Are you stupid? The whole idea for it was basically written on the back of a napkin." Their parents walked in and saw them argue, while Lauren and I gave them shy smiles and had no clue what was happening. "Will you stop arguing about that movie. Its been a year." their mom said setting her purse on the counter. "They are still arguing about that?" Their dad said walking in with the luggage. "that's because you had a dumb son who doesn't know quality when he sees it." Rylee said tossing a fry at him. "knock it off. Aiden good to see you again, and you are?" Her dad said not missing a beat. " Mom, dad this is Lauren, my girlfriend." Ryder said shocking everyone. " Its nice to meet you sweetheart." Their mom shook her hand. Then turned her Gaze to me and Rylee. "What?" She said taking a drink of her soda. "I just half expected you to tell me Aiden's your boyfriend is all." Her mom said. Rylee and I shared a look as her cheeks turned pink. "Well we aren't there just yet." She said staring at me. "Ah well don't tell your father just yet." she said Just second later her dad walks back into the kitchen.

"Kids next weekend we will be going to your grandmas house to visit. So make sure your packed and no last second laundry fight. I want to be out the door at 5 am. No later Ryder." Her dad said grabbing his shoulder. "Hey it was like 2 times." He said shrugging. Rylee stifled a laugh. "And you miss laughing at your twin, no huge case again. You know you don't need 5 different outfits each day." I looked at her with an eyebrow raise, she didn't seem like that kind of girl. "Dad I needed options. Besides it wasn't a trip back home, we were in Cali." She said her cheeks turning pink. "Well now sis you don't need that many clothes cause you have the best accessory." He said pointing to me. "Me?" I said looking at everyone. "Oh yes Aiden Lauren you should check to see if you guys could come. They can show you where they grew up." their mom said. Both of them turned their heads to her and jaws dropped. "Who are you?" Rylee said squinting her eyes. "oh hush, they can come if they want." she said before walking out of the kitchen with their dad following.

"I need to go check in with my father and check the patrols. Will you walk me to the forest?" I asked Rylee offering my hand as I stood. She nodded and took it. We walked towards the forest and once we were covered by the trees and wrapped my arms around her in a hug and kissed her. She pulled away and took a deep breath her face was flushed and I could already smell her. "do all wolves look alike?" I shook my head. "When can I see yours?" "You already have" I told being honest just leaving out the part that I'm the wolf visiting her at night. "both times I was running for my life. So I didn't get to look at you except passing glances when i looked back as I ran." I nodded and chuckled. "Tonight when I come back ill show you Cable." She held up her pinky, I knew she wanted a pinky promise. So I looped mine around hers and then kissed her hand. She smiled and turned to walk back inside. Cable purred in my head as I watched her retreat from me.

I shifted and ran home. When I got to the pack house my mom and dad were sitting outside on the patio. "Well this is a sight to see. You guys never have down time." I said walking up kissing my mom on the cheek. "I decided to steal your father away from being Alpha for the day and show him what it'll be like when you take over." She said smiling big seeming so happy. "she has me drinking lemonade." I could help but laugh as he sounded so in different about it. "Well mom I'm going to make dad jump back into Alpha for a moment." She whined. "you got 3 minutes or I'm coming to get you and it wont be pretty if I have to." she glared at us. "yes ma'am" we both said in unison and hurried into the house. "Have you talked to Marissa's father?" He nodded. "She hasn't been living there for some time. He hasn't talked to her for a while. So this has nothing to do with his pack. But they will help us look into what's going on and find her." I told him to let her father know about the visit. "When you go to check patrols make sure you put an extra warrior to watch her house too. She maybe in more danger." I nodded as he turned to leave I stopped him. "Dad. Do we ever out grow the fear we have of our mates?" He knew what I meant. "honestly son. I would rather take on every Alpha in a fight at the same time, then upset your mother and her be mad at me. Which is why I'm returning to her." I laughed at that and walked into my room to shower before checking patrols when I received a mind link from the doctor. It was about the paper I gave him on whether humans can end up being turned to us.
