31~ OMEGAS’ DECEPTION: PART TWO

1771 Words
My hands were held back by a new girl behind me. I tried to break free, but her strength was too strong. No matter how many times I struggled, it all ended in failure. "Let me go!" I kicked the ground and jumped, hoping to knock the person behind me down. But she stood her ground without budging. It seemed a werewolf's strength wasn't something to underestimate. "Not a chance, human girl," said the new girl as she grabbed my neck from behind and lifted my face to meet hers. Through my peripheral vision, I saw a pair of wide-set brown eyes under the long and curvy eyelashes and the way-too-red drooping lips. Her face wasn't entirely new to me, for I remembered seeing her at the archery field. She was standing behind Petra and Zelda, the tallest of the three. "Avice, hold this b***h. Don't let her escape," said Zelda. "It's my pleasure," said the girl behind me. I couldn't see, but I sensed something hard and cold on my right cheek. It wasn't hard to assume that it was the dagger since that was what Zelda had been holding this whole time. "What are you planning to do?" I gulped, trying not to move even though I knew it was only the back of the dagger. "Want to guess?" Zelda ran the spine all over my cheek. "Look. You must be mad about what happened at the archery field. But Mez already explained the reason. I wasn't there to steal your sister's spot on purpose," I said. "It wasn't only about that," said Zelda. "Then what? Today was the first time we'd ever talked. I did nothing to offend you. Besides, I even helped you escape the punishment." "Help?" Zelda hissed and tapped the dagger's spine on my cheek. "Stop pretending, b***h. Humans are cunning and cruel. They are the reasons we have to hide in this forest. And you're no exception. You only did that to make yourself look good in front of him." I wanted to shake my head to deny it, but Avice was holding me so tight that I couldn't move my head at all. "No, I didn't. I know you have an unpleasant history with humans. But not all of them are bad. As for me, I was genuine back then when I asked Edward not to punish you. I know I'm new here, so it is normal for you all not to like me. Still, I really wanted to make friends with you." "You're delusional, human girl," said Avice as she leaned down to whisper into my ear. "No one wants to make friends with a troublesome human like you. Remember that." "I know I look weak. Still, I'm committed to training harder and becoming stronger. I'm not planning to be anyone's trouble. Believe me." "Why would we believe you? You're just an outsider. There's a chance that you're a spy from other kingdoms, too," said Petra. "No. I'm not a spy. I'm—" I clamped my lips shut. There was no way I could reveal my identity as the queen of Zariya. I couldn't even give them a fake one. When I made a self-introduction on my first day, I already said I'd lost my memory. It'd be even more suspicious to come up with a new one now. "You're a what?" asked Avice as she tightened her hand on my throat. "I can't remember who I am, but I only knew that I wasn't one. Think about it, if I really am a spy, how could I know nothing about martial arts? I should've known some self-defense at the very least. Still, I knew nothing. You already saw how bad I was during the training. My archery and... I-I ca-can't breathe." I struggled with words the more Avice tightened her hand. She was starting to choke the air out of me. "Avice. Don't kill her," said Zelda. "Yet." I gasped for air when Avice loosened her hand. "B-believe m-me." "What if you're only pretending not to know it?" asked Zelda. "I don't think she's lying about this," Petra spoke before I could. "How can you tell, sis?" "Have you forgotten that your older sister is skilled in archery? I can tell from her hand movement and posture whether she is faking it or not." "You're right." "Since you've confirmed that I'm not a spy, can you let go of me now? We can talk things out in a diplomatic way. It's better than violence," I said, hoping they would stop holding me like I was some kind of criminal. My arms were starting to get numb from pinning behind my back too long. "You'll be disappointed, human girl. We, the trio Omegas of Ascian, prefer violence more," said Avice. The trio Omegas of Ascian? What a lame name for a group. I kept the thought to myself, knowing better than to speak aloud. "That's right. We were tired of picking up on those little omegas, especially Isleen. That girl is so timid that it is no fun bullying her. Now that you're here, a new face sure gives us the excitement again. Besides, you're a human, not a werewolf. That means you aren't our kind, so we don't have to hold back like we used to. Am I right, girls?" Avice's wicked voice echoed so close to my ears that it gave me a chill. "Right. Now, let's get started, shall we?" said Zelda. "Should we take care of Isleen first? I don't want her to wake up in the middle of our operation." "Wait. What're you planning to do to her? Leave her alone. It's me you want, isn't it?" I remembered seeing Isleen unconscious on the ground. I hoped these three wouldn't do anything to hurt her. She was caught up in this because she walked me back to my castle on Mez's order. I couldn't get her in trouble. "Just come to me. Don't hurt her." I struggled against Avice, trying to free my face to look at Isleen and see how she was doing. Sadly, I couldn't. "Shut her up, Zelda. She's noisy. She'll blow our cover." said Petra. "You hear that?" asked Zelda as she trailed the dagger downward. "Shut your mouth, bitch." Avice's hand moved further down to the base of my throat. It was as if she wanted to make space for the dagger to rest above my trachea. There, Zelda turned the blade around so that its edge was pressing against my skin. Sensing the sharp object in such a vulnerable and dangerous place, I didn't even dare to breathe, for I feared the slightest movement would cut me. "Relax, human girl," said Avice. She must have sensed how tense my body was. "We won't cut your throat." I let out an inner sigh of relief after hearing that. At least, it was a piece of great news to know that I'd be alive. Unfortunately, it was short-lived. "But you'll still be dead in the end." Zelda let out a pearl of sinister laughter. "Since you're going to die soon, I'll do you a favor by answering your question. We won't hurt Isleen. I meant we did bully her and gave her a hard time when Miss Mez wasn't there. Still, we won't kill her. After all, she's a werewolf now. That means she's one of us." Good. An inner voice whispered in the back of my head, showing how relieved I was to know these three wouldn't harm Isleen. I knew I wasn't in a position to worry about someone else; yet, I didn't want anyone to get hurt because of me. Not anymore. Too much blood had been spilled, and too many lives had been lost already for the past weeks. "Sis, you brought the rope, didn't you?" asked Zelda. "Yes," said Petra. Rope? What're they planning to do? And what did Zelda mean when she said I'd die? A series of questions popped up in my head. Yet, I couldn't ask or look around to see what they were doing. The sharp edge was still on my skin, and I could already feel the scratch. It must have cut my skin and draw out blood. "Come, Avice. We'll do as we've planned. Sis, you bring the rope to that tree. We should go deeper in case someone is walking past here. We don't want this chick getting rescued. Besides, the deeper she is, the sooner he'll get to her," said Zelda as she withdrew her dagger. Avice also removed her hand from my throat to put more pressure on my hands. Now is my chance! My inner voice cued me. I craned my neck down to see Zelda was standing in front of me with her head turned to the back where Petra was. I took advantage of her distraction and kicked her in the stomach. Then I head bumped Avice and finally freed myself from her grip. "b***h! How dare you!" yelled Avice. I didn't have time to see if she had fallen to the ground or not. Since they'd already made it clear to me they wouldn't hurt Isleen, my only goal was to run away from them as far as possible. I turned back to the direction of the training camp, hoping to find Mez had returned from dealing with the problem. "Come back here!" Zelda's voice echoed behind my back. I'm not stupid to go back to you and let you kill me. I thought to myself and kept on running. However, the fever refused to give me the speed and strength I needed. I was running way too slow for a situation like this. Just then, I heard a growl. I didn't dare to look back, but I could tell it was the sound of shifting. After all, I'd already been familiar with this sound for the past two days. Oh, no. I won't be able to outrun them when they are in their wolf forms. A panicked voice screamed inside my head. And I was right. A giant shadow overcast the ground before me as it leaped into the air above my head. It knocked me hard on the back, making me lose my balance. The next thing I knew, I was lying flat on my stomach with half of my face buried in the grass. And that wasn't all. I felt a searing pain in my back, followed by the metallic scent. It was the smell of blood. ^ . ^ ©️StellaKMary | The Princess And Her Alpha Bodyguard
