By the time Jay pulls up outside Kain's apartment building, darkness has already crept in. I sit up when he turns on the interior lights before he twists in the driver's seat to look at us. His gaze drops to my hand which is still lodged in Kain's, and he spares me a sad smile. "I didn't notice your wrists were hurt." "It's nothing. I'm fine, really." He nods, unconvinced.
