Not Well

ALESSANDRO'S POV

The sound of slap can be heard in the perimeter of the hospital wing but I stay silent knowing that I have earned it because of my stupidity.

"How can you reject my niece?" Nicholas, Madison's uncle growls getting ready to hit me again but Merrick holds him back.

"Not only you have rejected her but also showed your lovelife in front of her. She may looks like she doesn't care but I know her more than anyone. If anything she has gotten from her father then that will be pretending to be something she is not." Nicholas says looking defeated making me clench my fists tightly.

"I have always wondered why Madison is so adamant in making things better here. At first I thought that she must doing it out of sympathy but now I fully understand that the Luna inside her lead her to protect the respect of this pack's women." Alpha Nolan comments with a sigh.

"Alpha, I never questioned your rules because I am not someone to go against higher rankers. But today I have to say that I never imagined that you would reject my best friend who is more like a sister to me." Amanda says.

I don't reply to any of them because I know this time I am at fault. I am the only who should be called out for misbehaving with my fated mate. I only thought about myself and what I want. I never tried to think what she might want me to do. Hell, to make things better in the pack she refused to accept the rejection knowing well that I could never accept her. She has been doing everything a true Luna will do for her pack yet I have failed to see that.

After a few hours the door of the examination room gets open and Dr. Luke walks outside making me look at him with hope. But when he looks in the verge of tears I can't help but fears the worse.

"What happened to my niece?" Nicholas asks before I can ask anything.

"I don't want to suger coat my words and say that everything is alright. Because in reality she is anything but alright. I have never seen anyone with this much damage. I literally don't even have words to describe how she has been alive till now because every bone of her body is broken. There are so much wolvesbane inside her system that it's getting hard for her to heal herself. Not only that, her wolf is not responding as well." Dr. Luke explains with a defeated look.

"What do you mean her wolf is not responding?" I ask fearing the worse.

"Alpha, it seems that the hunters have done something to her wolf which has make her wolf dormant. Now, only time will tell when or how her wolf be able to retrieve." Dr. Luke answers making me stumble but I hold onto the wall for support.

"Doctor, at least tell us whether she will ever be fine or not?" Merrick asks.

"It all depends on the will of Moon Goddess because I can't say anything right now. For now we have kept her in the ICU. If she doesn't respond between next 72 hours then we have to put her into medically induced coma for betterment." By saying this Dr. Luke walks away from there leaving all of us a mess.

I fall on my knees who is looking at me or what others will think. It seems I am dreaming and when I open my eyes everything will be better. But deep down I know that nothing is a dream. Instead, it is the darkest reality of my life.

"I hope now you're happy that my baby is fighting for her every single breath." Nicholas remarks with hate but I don't have anything to say in response.

"Alpha, I know this is not the time to bother you. But the pack members are going crazy to know about Madison, specially the shewolves. What should I tell them?" Giovanni asks looking worried.

"Let me handle this situation." Merrick says but I shake my head.

I can't keep my family like members in dark anymore. They have every right to know about Madison's condition as well as her position in this pack. With that thought in mind, I walk outside the hospital. When I reach outside I notice the huge crowd which looks at me with expectations. I can see worry as well as hope in their eyes.

"Alpha, we have heard that you are able to save Madison. So where is she?" One of the elder shewolves asks.

"She is inside and Dr. Luke is treating her right now." I reply.

"Is she okay?" Another member asks.

"She is not okay as she has been beaten very badly." I answer not wanting to keep them in anymore dark.

"Why are you looking so heartbroken, Alpha?" A teenager asks making me take a deep breath.

"I have to announce something very important which I should have done a long time ago. I have found my mate." I let out while they cheer in happiness but I hold my hand up for them to quiet down.

"But I rejected her as you all know my relation with Isabella." I say and instantly their happy faces turn into scowls.

"Before any of you ask about my mate I want to apologise for my bad decision as I don't have any right to keep you away from your Luna. But I may have never accepted her as my mate yet she never lacks of taking care of you like a Luna does." I continue.

"Who are you talking about?" Someone asks from the crowd.

"It's none other than Madison Colbert who is now fighting for her life." I announce.

There is a several sound of gasps can be heard from the crowd because I am sure none of them expect this from me.

"That's why I have always felt so secure around her as if she is with me then nothing can happen to me." One shewolf says whom I have seen training under Madison.

"We have been behaving so badly with her since she has arrived here because she wants to change the rules. We didn't even realise that she is only doing what a Luna should do." One of the warriors says lowering his head.

"How can you do this, alpha? You have chosen a human instead of your fated mate? Not only that, you didn't even inform us about this?" I gulp down the tears that are threatening to spill because I am really the reason behind every blunder.

"I don't think a sorry can fix the misdeed I have done. But all I want for you to pray for your luna's fast recovery. I know Moon Goddess is probably not going to listen to my prayers but I am sure she will listen to you all. So, please ask her make Madison better because the next 72 hours are going to be very crucial for her." I say folding my palms in front of them.

"We will do everything in our power to recover our Luna but you should know that if anything happens to her then we will never accept you as our alpha." I am not shocked hearing their threat because a Luna is like a mother figure in the pack. So, they are bound to hate me for not telling them the reality soon.
