Chapter 6: Malice

1116 Words
Andrew’s pov I stood outside her bedroom window, and I could see her moving around. Something isn’t right about her. Today at their practice, she spoke as if she knew that I could hear her. I don’t like it at all. I don’t like that she seems to know more than I do. I don’t like that she seems to know how to make people bend to her will. Those stupid werewolves haven’t realized that they are basically eating out of her hand. The way she complimented that girl by telling her that we would make a great couple. The way she smiled at my stupid cousin, who melts at the sight of her. I don’t like it one bit. I don’t trust her little innocent act. I climbed up to her room and started looking around. I was hoping for some clue, something that I can use against her. The shower stopped running, and I wanted to see her reaction if she saw me in her room. She walked out of the bathroom, and her eyes landed on me. I expected her to panic and look at me like I was some kind of maniac. Instead, she just smirked and then followed with a chuckle. “Breaking and entering, that’s not very princely,” she said. This is what I am talking about. Is it possible that she knows that I am an Alpha Prince? “Princely?” I asked, and she nodded. “You are the one who called yourself a Prince something,” she pointed out, and I looked at her. Her hair was wet, and I followed a small drop of water as it flowed down her towel. I watched how she smiled as if she noticed that I was lusting after her. Damn the mate bond. I find her to be infuriating, but I can’t help this attraction. “Let’s mate with her, our mate is right there ready for us.” My wolf said. The only thing left for him to do is drool. She has this i***t all wrapped around her little finger just by her scent. I will admit, the scent is probably the most intoxicating thing I have ever smelled, but still. “Torin, I need you to calm the f**k down. We agreed to reject her. She is human.” I pointed out to my wolf. “It doesn’t matter, she is beautiful and smart,” Torin retorted. “She is human,” I said firmly and then blocked him out. One thing I have learned from my father is that you shouldn’t let your wolf or your mate control you. The mate bond is nothing but a thing that can make a strong man weak. It is a burden, especially a mate bond with a human. My father rejected his mate the moment he realized that she was an omega. He got married to our mother, who was the daughter of an Alpha, and they mated. Even after they mated, she still left him. Well, it’s a good thing that he was cautious and it didn’t affect him at all. That is what I want, I want a relationship that won’t affect me at all. My mate was meant to be nothing but a stepping stone. And since she isn’t even a werewolf, then she doesn’t deserve even a bit of my attention. I looked up at her once again, and she was looking at me with a smile. “You looked like you were having an internal conflict with yourself,” she said, her eyes brimming with chaos. Yes, that’s the emotion I see in her eyes most of the time. Chaos and deceit, but I looked around her room, and I didn’t find anything weird. I want to reject her and get it over and done with. But at the same time, I think that she is hiding something, and I need to find out what and why. I looked at her; she called me semi-attractive, but no woman can resist my charm. “I came to apologize,” I said, and watched how she seemed amused. “For what?” She asked me, and I just shrugged. “You know, for what I said about rejecting you. I was trying a new pick-up line, I guess it didn’t work.” I answered, and she looked at me. Her eyes dared me to tell more lies as if she could see right through me. I hate that, I hate that it feels as if she can see even my deepest darkest secrets. “Well then, you are forgiven. I didn’t take it seriously. But the breaking into my room, that has pissed me off.” She said. I watched as her smile quickly changed into a frown. I could feel it wasn’t just anger that was directed towards me, but hate. I could see the hate in her eyes because it’s the same hate I have seen in my own eyes. But I have a valid reason to hate humans. I have every right to hate them; I have seen the havoc they can cause. But why does she hate me? She doesn’t know what I am or who I am. I agree that stalking her and breaking and entering into her room is wrong. Well, I will admit that, but it doesn’t explain the hatred in her eyes. “Yes, I know, and I am sorry for that. It’s the first time I have felt this way about someone,” I tried to explain. It isn’t a lie. This is the first time I have wanted to destroy someone who isn’t my twin brother. I want to rip off that mask on her face and show everyone what she truly is. I don’t know what she is yet, but I do know that something about her just isn’t right. I watched how her face changed completely, and she smiled at this. A serpent, that’s the only way I can explain her changing nature. One moment, she is calm, but then she turns into a poisonous predator. “Well, I guess you are forgiven. You didn’t clarify how you feel, but frankly, I don’t care. Just stay out of my way and I will stay out of yours,” she said with a smile. That’s what is scary about her. She can hide her malice so easily. I am setting a trap for her. I want her to let her guard down. But the look in her eyes was quiet, patient, and calculated. It was as if I just fell into her trap instead of the other way around. Am I being paranoid?
