Andrew’s pov
“You disobeyed me!” My father said, and I looked down without saying anything.
My father is the Alpha King and isn’t someone who likes being questioned.
“Your punishment is exile.” He said, and I looked up at him.
Exile?
That is too big a punishment for what I did.
But I didn’t say anything, I couldn’t say anything.
It took everything in me to disobey him the first time around.
Doing it again would result in my death.
“You will go and live with your uncle from your mother’s side. You are just like them, aren’t you?” He asked me with venom in his voice. I didn’t say anything but just bowed my head at this.
Anything is better than death. I can redeem myself and come back.
“You will only be allowed to come back here once you are married and mated to the daughter of an Alpha. If not, then don’t bother coming back.” He declared and then walked off.
The moment he walked out, I heard someone laugh. I didn’t need to look up to know that it is my fraternal twin, Andres.
“The daughter of an Alpha, huh?” He asked and then continued laughing.
He walked towards me as I got up on my feet, and he shook his head.
“I guess I will never see you again, brother.” He said with a smirk.
“And what makes you think that? I will be back very soon.” I said, and he shook his head at this.
“I doubt that, as someone who grew up with you. I know for certain how bad your luck is.” He said, and I looked at him, confused. “I can bet that your mate is probably some lowly omega. Which means that you won’t marry an Alpha’s daughter, which means you won’t be back.”
He put a hand on my shoulder and then patted it before walking off.
“Your things are ready, Alpha Prince.” The omega said, holding my bags in his hands.
I sighed as I walked to my car and drove to my uncle’s place.
He sure knows how to punish me.
Making me go to live with my uncle, who likes fraternizing with humans.
Making me go and live with the one thing I can’t stand in the whole world.
And my uncle is a weakling who thinks that being kind makes him a good leader. But it just makes him a weak one. A good leader is one like my father. Once he says something, no one can even dares to defy him.
Not my uncle, from what I heard, his people question him all the time.
One must lead with fear. The people you lead must know their place.
Exiled, I have been exiled to a small town.
Was Andres right about what he said?
Is it possible that I might never be able to come back?
Our mother was also exiled, and that happened about 10 years ago. And she never returned. We don’t even know where she is right now.
Not that I care about where she is, she is the one who chose humans over her own family. She chose to protect them, knowing fully well that Father wouldn’t like it all.
He told her to watch her steps, and she still disobeyed him.
The moment I got into my uncle’s territory, the human stench was unbearable. How are they even able to stay here with all these humans?
I can’t stand their scents.
Along the way, I saw them walking around without a care in the world.
If history has taught us anything, it is that humans are dangerous and can’t be trusted.
I know that I say that they are weak, and that is what makes them dangerous.
I believe that there is a saying that nothing is more dangerous than a weak man.
I drove straight to my uncle’s mansion, and as I was getting closer, I got a whiff of an intoxicating scent.
From all the other scents of humans and werewolves, this one stood out.
It was faint, but also at the same time very powerful.
As I got closer, the scent became stronger and even more intoxicating.
“Mate!” My wolf uttered, and I frowned when I realized that Andres was right.
I have such terrible luck, well, he wasn’t completely right.
Turns out I have worse luck than he wanted because my mate isn’t a lowly omega.
My mate is human.
The mate of an Alpha Prince is a mere human.
What kind of sick joke is this?
I got out of my car and headed inside.
Even their mansion stinks of humans.
The moment I walked in, my uncle and his wife kept talking, but I didn’t care about them.
I wanted to see the person that the moon goddess thought was good enough to be the Alpha Prince’s mate.
My eyes landed on her, and I watched as she looked at me.
Her eyes were as calm as a quick sand spot. At first glance, you don’t think too much of it, but then you find yourself slowly sinking in with no escape.
And now that I think about it, it isn’t just her eyes but her scent as well.
She is human, I am sure of it, but what is this feeling?
What was that look in her eyes just now?
I looked away from her. It doesn’t matter what her eyes look like. She is a weak human who isn’t fit to be my mate.
She is lucky to even be standing in the same room as me.
As for me, I don’t think that I can stand to stay in one room with them. Let alone to even think of sitting down and having dinner with humans.
“I will be in my room.” I stated as I gestured for them to show me my room.
“Cousin,” Niall said as he walked in. He looked at me with a big smile and held out his hand.
I looked at his hand and then back at his face.
“Remember who he is, son,” his father reminded him.
Niall looked around the room, and his eyes landed on the girl.
“Hi, you must be Freya!” Niall said, changing the topic and walking towards the girl.
I watched how she smiled and held out her hand, and nodded.
“Yes,” she said as she shook his hand.
This girl, something isn’t right with her at all.
And it’s not because she is my mate.
I know she is human, and humans really don’t have much to offer. But I refuse to believe that I have such bad luck that my mate would be a normal human.
And it’s not only because of my bruised ego that I think so.
Her scent, you can tell a lot about a person’s scent.
And maybe it’s because she is my mate, but her scent is clear as day to me.
It is subtle but also soft enough to draw you closer, but it also has a kind of warning to it. But the sweetness of blackcurrant and a little trace of apple blossom is too tempting.
However, behind these sweet scents is another scent, hiding in plain sight.
The scent of black flowers, such as jasmine and tuberose, mixed together, the scent is rich and almost suffocating.
And what is even scarier are the layers of her scents.
There is another layer of oak moss and vetiver, which is an earthy and dark scent. As if she leaves traces of ash and amber everywhere she goes.
The more layers a person’s scent has, the more complicated they are.
“Actually, I think I will join you for dinner after all.” I said and they all seemed confused but nodded.
We sat down, and I found myself looking at my so-called mate. The way she smiled and laughed as they talked, like a serpent waiting to strike. Her eyes were sharp, and her smile didn’t reach her eyes.
She was about to take a bite of her food when she suddenly stopped and looked at me.
“Is everything okay? You haven’t touched your food at all. Is it not to your liking?” She asked, looking at my food. Her face told me that she was worried, but her eyes spoke a different story.
As if she was saying that, but the real reason the question was a different one.
As if she were asking me why I was looking at her.
I wasn’t certain before, but now I know.
But what is she?
She is obviously human, but she is also something else. What could it be?
Actually, why do I even care?
She is human, I am just going to reject her and let it go. What does it have to do with me what she is?
What matters is what she is not, and that is the daughter of an Alpha.
Well, I already know what I need to do, so this isn’t going to be a problem.
Since she is human, all I need is to reject her, and even if she doesn’t accept my rejection, it will take.
As long as she doesn’t reject my rejection.
The moment I get time alone to be with her, I will reject her right away. Then I can focus on how to get back home.
Now, who will I marry so that I can go back home?
