Chapter 20: Confrontation
Jade hurried back to the main courtyard hoping to find Megan and tell her the news—but even standing on a low wall and peering over the throng of Restaals, Jade found no sign of her employer. Up in the front, the ceremonies were going on, and people ahed and ohed as new revelations about the candidates’ dreams were explained, but that wasn’t important to her. She asked person after person where Megan was. The white-haired Earthwoman was a well known figure in the monastery by this time, but none of the spectators knew her current whereabouts and all were most annoyed with Jade for interrupting the ceremony to ask them.
