Maksim’s POV
I realized that Jaden was Melina’s second chance mate when he leapt to her defense. I was happy for her. Jaden didn’t seem like he had an issue with vampires. He had been respectful and polite during our meeting. I was glad for Melina until I saw his face. Melina couldn’t handle another rejection right on the heels of her first.
Anger like I’ve never felt rose in me. How did I get so lucky, only to have Melina suffer again? I was glad that she didn’t stand there for it. She is better, and the baby is stronger. Melina had been focused on getting the baby, and Storm nursed back to health. How could he even consider rejecting her? He hasn’t even met her yet to form an opinion.
