Chapter 19

Axel

The cells in the MidNight pack are disgusting. They look like sheds that were put together somehow, but rhere i sno real structure. These needs to be upgrated. Alpha Richard really didn't give a f*ck about anyone in this pack. I get that bad wolves are usually brought here, but still, these conditions are never okay.

I feel a pang the closer I get. There's sadness, but so much anger. I open the door and step inside. I hear her crying softly. I can't take it. I walk over to her cell.

"Rossy," she is balled up in a corner. "Rossy" she looks up and I hate how sad and vulnerable she looks. "Please stop crying. I can't stand seeing you upset," she gets up and I see fire in her eyes. "Then go away if you can't stand seeing me. Don't come here and tell me what to do." My wolf snickers. He loves her fire. Sh1t, I do to, but I am just trying to help.

"I just wanted to let you know that Raine was wrong. He shouldn't have treated you that way, and I let him know that. He asked me to come get you out." She steps closer. "You're going to let me out of this cell?" I nod. I don't have keys, but my wolf wants to show off, so he grabs the iron bars and pulls them apart enough for her to walk through.

She looks impressed. "Thank you, Alpha," I groan. "I thought we were friends?" She turns pink. "Oh yeah," she says.

"Look, Rossy, Raine is wrong for treating you this way, but I know he feels bad. I won't make excuses for him, but we both know he is going through a lot." Her tear filled eyes k1ll me. "That's why I was trying to help him," she is an angel. My hand finds her head. I run it down her hair. She lets me. "Her hair is so soft. I wonder if she's soft all over." I remove my hand so fast. "She's 16, a$$h0le." I begin fighting with my wolf. That's why I was afraid to get too close. Maybe it's safer to watch over her from far away. So many things run through my head.

"Well, thanks. I'm going to go," she steps out of the shed. "Wait, we are going to have the lotus festival this weekend. Why don't you stop by? I think it would be good for you to get away from Raine. I really think you'd like to see how big the flowers have gotten this year." She doesn't look convinced.

"I don't think so, Axel. I have to work," I cut her off, not wanting to take no for an answer. "It starts at 5pm and goes on through the night. Please. I really want you there." She looks conflicted, but eventually she nods. "Are you going to have the jumpers and animals?" I smile and nod. She loves animals. I remember her mom complaining about getting her away from the animals. "Okay, I'll bring Raze," I nod. "Great. See you then," she waves. "Bye,"

"1d10t. You forgot the job offer.

"Rossy, wait," she turns around. "You don't need to work 2 jobs. I can find something for you at my pack. In the daycare, or the kitchen, I need a secretary," she bites her lip. "Thank you for the offer, but I already agreed to 2 job offers somewhere else. I can't just leave them hanging. Plus, I want to work somewhere where Raine won't have a say. You two are friends, and at the end of the day, you will listen to him and stick by him. I want to separate myself. I want independence. I mean look at the sh1t he just pulled. I am going to give him a hard time for treating me this way. He's going to regret it," she waves again and walks away.

"How is she only 16 years old? She's so fu*king smart, strong, responsible and her ego is through the roof." my wolf and I agree. Rossy is such a bada$$. I can't wait for the day she becomes our Luna.

Rosslyn

I hate the way Axel looks at me. Like he feels he needs to fix me or something. He even looked disgusted when he touched my hair. I touch it. Is it greasy? Is there something wrong with me? I shake my head to remove these bad thoughts from my mind. His feelings are his feelings. He has to deal eith them on his own.

I walk to the top of the stairs out front and flip Raine off. I rush inside, and run up the stairs. I run into my room and slam the door shut. I am exhausted and just want to sleep, but there's a knock at the door. I groan, but get up and open it.

"Here," Raine hands Raze over. "I'm sorry, sister. I should have given you the chance to explain. I know this isn't an excuse, but today sucked. I found out exactly how much in debt I am, thanks to your daddy. Then not being able to locate you. It freaked me out." I nod, but he doesn't make any sense. "You were freaked out, so your first thought was to lock me up?" He sighs. "I just want to keep you safe," he is so full of it, but I don't feel like arguing with him so I tell him it's okay.

"Jake told me you got 2 jobs. I promise to figure something out so you don't have to always work 2 jobs, and if I notice work interfering with school, then you will have to quit. Axel also offered to keep Raze in his daycare. We really should think about opening up centers in the pack. That will have to be once money starts flowing in though. Now tell me about your two jobs." I tell him the basics and then tell him to get out of my room so I can do our night routine and get to bed, because I am exhausted and have to do this all over again tomorrow.

The rest of the week flies by, work is amazing. The tips are amazing, and that view on the ferry everyday makes my whole day. I feel so at peace.

Saturday I am at the boutique bright and early. I love this job better than the restaurant. I don't get tips here, but the pay is more per hour, and I get a discount on clothes. Not that it matters now. I can't afford anything, but eventually I will.

When the store is not busy, she teaches me something new. The day goes by smoothly. She tells me that maybe next weekend she will already leave me alone. She teaches me how to close out the cash register at the end of the night and where to put the money, and how to lock up shop. Then it's time to go home.

Jake and I hop on the ferry amd he tells me about his day and I tell him about mine. "Are we going to the lotus festival?" I shrug. "I'm a bit tired, but I think Raze would like it. Maybe we can just go for an hour or two," he nods. "Lets go home and get ready quickly and we head over there. My mom texted me and my parents will wait for us."

I run down the stairs after getting myself and my baby brother ready. I put a cute yellow hat on his head so that he won't burn his little face. I am wearing a really pretty dress and my favorite sandals. I let my hair down, and I am wearing mom's favorite necklace and pair of earrings. Her jewelry makes me feel closer to her on days I really need her. Seeing all the clothes at the shop made me miss her tremendously. My heart hurts so bad.

We walk towards Axel's pack. So many people are arriving. He has his men searching everyone so it is safe for those in attendance.

"Well well well, if it isn't Rosslyn of the midnight pack." Imani says. She is their beta's daughter. "Hello, Imani" Jake's mom says with a friendly smile. Imani rolls her eyes and looks at me with so much hate. I literally feel it rolling off her in waves. What is her problem? "Why are you looking at me like that?" She smirks.

"What are you doing here? Don't you have strawberries to pick or something? Oh no, Alpha Saloman did us the honor of k1lling Luna Brainy there. Those strawberries are tainted," she starts laughing. Jake's mom gasps. I tighten my grip on Raze. I want to hand him over to Jacob, but I already know I will slap this b1tch.

"Keep my mother's name out of your filthy f*cking mouth," I tell her. "Let me stop before you go running to Axel. He told everyone in our pack that he feels sorry for you, so he told us to be nice to you, because your mother was murdered, but Alpha Saloman did us a favor. Your mother kept our Luna too busy with her problems. Glad she's dead." I see red.

I hand Raze to our beta and I step closer to Imani. "What the f*ck did you just say to me b1tch?" She chuckles and looks around. "I said your mother deserved exactly what she.." she doesn't get to finish her words, because I punch her right in her mouth.

She falls to the ground.

"Take that b1tch. That's what you get for speaking on our Luna that way." She tries to get up, but I push her down with my foot. Of course she starts screaming like the little b1tch she is.

"What's going on here?"

"Axel, Axel, this girl attacked me. She's unhinged. Kick her out of the pack and festival." I look at him, daring him to do it.
