She had long since fallen asleep but I couldn't. The itch to flee was growing but I couldn't do that to her. I wouldn't do that to her. The care and kindness she showed me tonight was at the forefront of my mind. Her golden waves were splayed out on the pillow and her soft breaths filled the silence of the room. She looked peaceful. She looked happy. I knew that happiness would fade if she stayed with me. I knew I would dull her shine. It's crazy to think about how much heartache and pain this one woman has gone through. I didn't want to cause any more hurt. I didn't want to bring turmoil to her life. And that is what would inevitably happen. My life is one big s**t show and I couldn't bring her into that.
