Elle’s POV I wanted to cry. To scream. To break the chains myself. He roared again, and his head snapped toward me. Our eyes locked. He stared at me through the bars with those glowing red eyes. His snarl deepened. His body tensed like he didn’t know whether to attack or run. But I didn’t flinch. Because something inside me whispered that he wouldn’t hurt me. I didn’t know how I knew. I just did. So I stepped closer to the cell door, my bare feet cold against the stone. I sat down just outside the bars, my hands resting on my lap. My voice was shaking, but I didn’t speak.
