Silly Girl
"Amanda! Please be fast we are running late already" Dad yelled from the sitting room in rage
"Ok Daddy!! I'm coming" I replied from the doorway running towards the staircase with my backpack in my right hand
"You better hurry up princess" Dad said quite calmly
"I'm here now let's get going" I said as I climbed down the last stairs and entered the sitting room
"Where is Aunt Mena?" I asked scanning through the whole sitting room
"She is in the kitchen I guess" Dad retorted taking a quick glance at his wristwatch
"Oh" I muttered
"What is it?" Dad asked
"Nothing just wanted to tell her I'm off for school" I said stealthily
"Well that won't be necessary let's get going already" Dad said and started walking towards the door while I nodded my head then began to trail behind.
We got outside and entered the car then Dad set the car into ignition, reversed and then drove out of the house for school in silence
_______
*Break time In school*
"So tell me, why weren't you in school on Friday last week?" I asked Tamara giving her a quizzical look as we sat at the corner of the cafeteria eating our lunch.
"huh?" Tamara muttered in between mouthfuls of the sausage rolls as she ate hurriedly away as though her life depended on it.
This is totally strange of Tamara. I'd swear I have never seen her frantically eat like this with so much concentration and passion.
With the way she chun the rolls, whining her mouth like an underfed cow grazing in a juicy pasture after taking large bites, it was obvious she was enjoying it and wouldn't want to be disturbed or take part in any form of discussion.
"Tamara" I called, glaring at her
"Did you just say just something?" She asked looking at me blanky as though she was suffering from insomnia
"Naa… I was just admiring your big inactive ears" I said rolling my eyes
" Jeez… that's rude of you Amanda" Tamara said softly
" Whatever" I retorted
"Fine. I'll just go back to eating since you don't want to tell me what said at first" She muttered in resignation and took another bite on the roll
"Hey wait ..." I said as she made to take a bite at the roll
"What? " she paused, giving me a cold glare
" Uhm nothing never mind. I guess I have forgotten what I wanted to say but then I'm sorry for overreacting" I said taking a look at the other students sitting beside us with the corner of my eyes
"You aren't serious then" Tamara scoffed
"Well I am and to prove you wrong I think I have remembered"I replied with a sly smile
" Then go ahead so I can go back to my food, you silly head" She said
"Sure I'll pardon you for today though don't try that next time again because I'm not a silly head" I retorted
"Well you're and you know it" she said grinning
" Whatever. I was asking why you didn't come to school last week Friday because that was very unusual of you" I said ignoring her outburst
" Oh about that?" She asked after letting out a sigh
" Yeah what about that?" I cooed
"Buddy I had to travel down to see my granny" she said after much hesitation
"Oh I see" I said taking a sip from my choice
"Yeah. She requested to see me urgently" she added solemnly
"Aww... but why was that?" I asked listening on with keen interest
"She was lying on a sick bay and critically ill in the hospital at the point of death but then wished to see me so Daddy asked I'd be brought for her to see in order to grant her last wish" She said calmly
" Aww...so sad though" I said in an emotional tone
"Yeah. It is sad but she died a day or two after seeing me" She said and sniffled
"Oh it's okay dear I'm sorry for asking" I consoled as I patted her back softly
" It's fine. Thank you" she said
"You're welcome..
Let's just go back to eating" I said taking my cutlery from the table
"Sure. We should already" Tamara replied with a shrug then we continued eating in silence afterwards while I took occasional glances at the other end of the cafeteria.
"Hey buddies" a voice waffled into my ears from behind our table and Tamara and I both swiftly turned to look at who it was
"Hey! Joe" I said flashing him a nervous smile as soon as we turned and I recognized the voice to be his
"Mind if I join you guys huh?" He asked looking at the empty chair on our table
"No. You can go ahead and sit down" Tamara replied calmly
" Thank you" he said as he sat down
"You are welcome" she replied
"So what's up? How have you guys been doing?" He asked with a smirk plastered on his face
"Fine...Just here, cool and calm" I muttered
"I see… I didn't get to see you again in school after the other day incident" Joe stuttered
" Oh yeah…that's true but I have been around" I said stealthily
"Ok come join us" I said after realizing he wasn't with a plate of food
"Naa thank you I just ordered for mine" he said shyly
"Ok then" I said
"So what are you guys talking about?" he asked with a smirk
" nothing really just random stuff" I said
"Hmm..." He muttered scratching his impeccable hair
"What?" I asked looking up
"Nothing. Never mind" he replied with a nervous smile
"So how is school going lately?" He asked with a shrug
"I guess fine except for the stress" I replied calmly after taking a sip from my juice
"I see... how about you?" I asked
"Fine just fine" he cooed rather too sharply
"Where are you friends?" I asked nervously
"They are over there" he said pointing towards the right side of the cafeteria
"Oh" muttered
"Yeah. I actually saw you guys from there so decided to come join you guys" He added softly
"I see.." I stuttered feeling so uneasy as I tried to continue the conversation with Joe.
Tamara wouldn't even look at me she was just busy with her rolla and wouldn't look up perhaps if she looks up, she would have seen it in my eyes that I needed help and it had to come now.
