Chapter 11- The Opportunity To Revitalize Greens Jewelers

“The overall effect of the painting is overwhelming!”   “The painting is a masterpiece in the truest sense of the word!”   …   Looking at David’s painting, the rich merchants commented one after another.   Even when Elvis saw the painting, he could not help feeling great admiration for David.   To be honest, David always was very good at painting, and it was the only hobby he could speak of.   Now, having received so much public praise, David gave a hearty laugh, having a nice chat with the others.   After a long time, David left with Peter, as well as those rich merchants.   Mandy breathed a sigh of relief the moment they left. She looked at Elvis and curiously asked, “Do you know why both Lord Mayor and General Clarke came here today, Elvis? Is it because of you?”   “I don’t know. It may be a mere coincidence.” Elvis replied with a thin smile, not intending to tell Mandy the truth.   “Stop kidding. How could he be able to invite them over? He’s merely a dead loss!” Getting over the initial shock, Gordon began to pour ridicule on Elvis again.   “Who do you think you are? Just mind your own business!” Mandy snapped, and her face was flushed with anger.   “How dare you speak to me in this manner, Mandy? Your success in selling those jewels is a mere fluke. Greens Jewelers is doomed to bankruptcy!” Gordon snorted contemptuously. He didn’t believe that Lady Luck would always be on Mandy’s side.   Just at this time, however, those rich merchants, who had just left, turned their vehicles around and went back to Greens Jewelers.   As soon as their vehicles arrived, they all jumped out of their vehicles and sprinted for the front door of Greens Jewelers.   ‘Is there something wrong with the quality of those jewels? They were back for a refund?’ Seeing that, Gordon thought to himself, quite pleased.   When he had managed Greens Jewelers, he had always cut corners in production, which had seriously damaged the reputation of it, and had made it on the verge of bankruptcy.   But now, Mandy was the proprietor of Greens Jewelers, so he could hardly wait to see the ruin of her.   “Attention please, everybody, Greens Jewelers has been using inferior materials in production. Although I’m part of the Greens, I promise I’ll justice for you all.” Gordon stepped forward and said to those rich merchants.   “What are you talking about? We all expect to corporate with Miss Green.” Those rich merchants replied, looking at Gordon as if he was crazy.   Even if those jewels were fakes, none of them dared to ask for a refund without the permission of David or Peter. And besides, those jewels were all delicately-made. They were a real value for the money.   Upon hearing their words, Gordon stood there, stiff and speechless.   In addition to those rich merchants, there were many reporters rushing into Greens Jewelers with cameras, anxious to interview Mandy.   “Is it quite stressful to take over Greens Jewelers, Miss Green? What do you think of the future of it?”   “Miss Green, it is said that both Lord Mayor and General Clarke came here to buy jewelry today, so is the quality of the jewelry on sale here really as good as they say?”   “Greens Jewelers has suffered a loss for years and is now on the verge of bankruptcy. Do you really have the confidence to revitalize it, Miss Green?”   …   Mandy was overwhelmed by a series of questions from those reporters, but she still answered them one by one patiently.   At the same time, Elvis was quietly standing in the corner, keeping himself away from the cameras. Although few people knew what he was really like, he must take care not to expose his identity during the mission.   Standing in front of the cameras, those rich merchants took the opportunity to express their cooperation intention to Mandy.   “Miss Green, I believe Greens Jewelers has great potential, so I’m willing to invest 30 million dollars in it. What do you think of it?”   “Miss Green, I’m willing to invest 20 million dollars!”   …   Smart and successful public figures like them, they could easily see through David’s intention of taking them to Greens Jewelers. Although they had no idea of why David was willing to help Mandy, it would not prevent them from investing in Greens Jewelers.   They thought that the more they invested in Greens Jewelers, the closer their relationship with David would be. Besides, Greens Jewelers had used to be the leader in the jewelry industry of the city. It was the poor management that had caused the capital chain rupture of it, making it move toward a recession. So as long as its capital chain was restored, it was very likely to be revitalized under Mandy’s good management.   “It is too loud here. We’d better change to another place.” Mandy said with a calm, sunny smile. Then she turned to the manager of Greens Jewelers and told him to reserve a banquet hall in the nearby Nunsmere Hotel, so as to entertain those rich merchants and reporters. This time, not panicked, she seized the opportunity to revitalize Greens Jewelers in time.   Standing by with folded arms, Elvis looked at Mandy with a smile of satisfaction.   Mandy was quite different now from seven years ago. She was more mature and independent now.   After photographing David’s painting, the reporters immediately followed Mandy and those rich merchants to Nunsmere Hotel.   Seeing that, Gordon, who had been snubbed, stormed out of Greens Jewelers in a rage.   After receiving the call from Greens Jewelers, the manager of Nunsmere Hotel immediately arranged for men to prepare the banquet hall. The lobby was used to entertain the reporters, while the chamber was used for Mandy to negotiate cooperation with those rich merchants.   In this way, those reporters could publicize Greens Jewelers for free, and at the same time, they would not interfere in Mandy’s cooperation with those rich merchants. This gave Mandy the best of both worlds.   Meanwhile, at the George’s, Shirley entered into Simon’s room with the medicine.   “It’s time to take the medicine, Simon,” said she.   Upon hearing her words, Simon, who had been unconscious for a long time, slowly sat up in bed.
