Elio hated himself but that wasn't new.
For the past couple of days since Petra had confirmed that she knew about Davina's — minus the fact that she didn't know it was Elio's child, she had been watching him like a hawk, monitoring his every move afraid that he might run out on her.
Petra had attended almost every meeting he had the last couple of days since she dropped her bombshell following him around like a lost puppy, it was annoying Elio and it was getting harder for him to keep his annoyance at bay.
"Elio when the baby comes you can't be spending your time in this office as much." Petra claimed from the chair next to him, a new rocking chair to be exact.
Petra had willingly bought a rocking chair for Elio's office in city for her to sit in when she came to keep him company on his long work days and for after when the baby comes so that she had a place to rock the baby while they kept him company.
The idea was nice but if Elio was being honest he'd rather it be somebody else than Petra sitting next to him but he wasn't going to voice his opinions it wasn't going to do him any good, not in this situation anyway.
"I can't control my work schedule Petra,"
"If you care about this child Elio you will."
And he did. He cared about that child more than anything or anyone in his life at the moment and they weren't even born yet, if it wasn't for the fact that the baby will need their mother and for the contract Elio would more than anything like to raise the child on his own and turn over a new leaf for his child but he didn't want to do that when Petra was in the picture, she's already tried controlling him when it came to the baby and the baby wasn't even born yet, they had a couple more months to go.
"When is our next appointment Petra? You'll be finding out the s*x soon and I'd like to be there." Elio said instead not wanting to fight with her because that's all they ever seem to do.
"What? Why? You haven't wanted to until just recently." Petra scoffed crossing her arms over her chest allowing the weight of her arms to fall and rest on her pregnancy bump.
Elio looked up from his document he was overlooking his eyes zeroing in on his wife who had a very challenging look on her face trying to get some sort of reaction out Elio and whether she was doing it on purpose or not it definitely was getting a reaction out of him but not the best one.
"I have actually, you just tell me that you've already gone and that you'll let me know when your next appointment is but you don't tell me when you go. I don't even know how well they're doing or if they're healthy and that's my child!"
Which was true, every single time Petra would talk about her pregnancy or her doctors appointments Elio would always ask how they went, if they told her anything new and if he could tag along for the next appointment and she tells him the same thing that she always tells him when he asks;
"I just went to my appointment last week don't you remember? I told you they're the size of a grape fruit."
Or
"Oh I'm so sorry Elio but my appointment was yesterday, but my next appointment I'll for sure let you know when it is!"
Petra rolls her eyes at Elio's remark. "Clearly they're healthy Elio or else I wouldn't be here pregnant now would I?"
Elio rolled his eyes shaking his head, just because she was sitting beside him didn't mean that their child was fine and was far from where he was even going with on what he even told her. He wanted to be apart of this child's life and going to her doctors appointments was apart of being apart of that child's life, if he couldn't be there for Davina he might as well be there for Petra, it would make him feel less of an asshole anyway.
"I just want to go to one appointment Petra, I'm the father of that baby and if I want to go with you when you find out the s*x, I have every right to."
Petra doesn't say anything for a while and Elio was afraid she wasn't going to. He knew what he said was out of line, just because he was the father of the baby didn't mean he had to go to every single doctors appointment that she had but as her husband it was something one would normally do and he wanted to be there for her to support her in her time of need it was about time he started acting like a husband to her and though it might be late this child was a blessing in disguise that he never knew he needed and if there was a doctors appointment that he wanted to go to it was the one where he found out the gender.
"I'll let you know when my next appointment is then, I don't have it memorized but-"
Elio rolled his eyes. He knew she was going to say that.
"There's no need to, I actually called and made one for you already." Elio said cutting her off mid sentence, Petra's mouth dropping open in disbelief.
"You did what?"
Could she not hear? Clearly he just said that he had scheduled an appointment for them to go together since she had a tendency of forgetting to tell him or not bothering to tell him at all.
"I scheduled an appointment with yo-"
"You had no right doing that Elio, that's a line that you have overstepped."
Elio looked at Petra in shock. He had overstepped but Petra wasn't willing to share the experience that they should be experiencing together as a happy married couple, she shouldn't be experiencing this alone and Elio has left her alone during this time for longer than he has even if it was because he wasn't quite too happy with himself.
Here he had a pregnant wife that was due with their future child in the next couple of months and he had to do every single thing he could to prepare to bring a child into this world and he wasn't doing any of that.
Elio knew he hadn't been the best husband out there since their marriage but this was the perfect opportunity for him to change his ways and to focus on his family but Petra was making it very difficult but he didn't blame her because if she knew everything chances are she probably wouldn't even be sitting right beside him.
Maybe it was the guilt that he felt after abandoning Davina with their child— regardless this feeling that Elio has been feeling for a while has been taking a toll on Elio and has been effecting negatively that Elio didn't want to feel this way anymore.
He couldn't fix it with Davina and their child but he definitely could fix it with his wife and their child.
"I'm your husband Petra, I just want to see my child, please."
Petra just looks at Elio not muttering a single word as she stares.
Petra had one of those stares that always made Elio twist in his seat. It was always cold and resting, Davina called it a resting b***h face, Elio on the other hand, called it her Medusa stare.
"Fine. When is it?"
Elio sighs in relief. "It's next Tuesday,"
Petra pursed her lips nodding her head but didn't say anything.
Elio didn't know what to expect, he of course didn't think Petra would have honestly reacted the way she did when she told him he thought she would have been thrilled that he was wanting to go with her that's all she ever used to talk about when she first found out she was pregnant but it seemed like after she entered her second trimester her whole thought process on the situation changed, maybe it was her hormones or she was having a moment, either way it wasn't a reaction Elio thought he'd received.
"I'm sorry I didn't mean to lash out on you, I guess I've just gotten so used to going by myself that it's new having someone wanting to go with me." Petra softly said rubbing her thumb along her stomach, a soft smile on her face.
"I promise you that you won't be going by yourself from this point forward." Elio said giving her a smile, even if it was forced.
Petra smiled reaching over the small space between them and putting her hand on his arm giving it a squeeze. "You won't regret this Elio,"
Elio gave her a tight lipped smile before turning his attention back onto the discarded documents.
He wasn't lying when he told her that she wasn't going to attend her doctors appointments alone anymore he was going to go to every single one she had from this point forward but he wasn't doing it for her— well he was to an extent to make up for his wrongs but mainly for his unborn child that she was carrying.
After all, if he couldn't be there for the woman he loved he could be there for the woman who loved him.

"I'm engaged to somebody else." Stefan blurted.
Davina wasn't surprised.
Well she was, but she wasn't surprised that this happened to her. She had the worst luck when it came to men, maybe this was her sign she was destined to be alone for the rest of her life— well not entirely, she'll have the twins and she'd rather have them then any man.
"Oh, um congratulations?" Davina said, it coming out sounding more like a question than she intend it to but she wasn't sure what she was supposed to say in this situation.
Stefan sighs his face looking guilty as he stared down at the floor shaking his head. "God, that didn't come out like I thought it would,"
Davina awkwardly stared at Stefan not too entirely sure what she was supposed to do.
Was she supposed to walk away? Listen to him explain himself? She's never been in this situation before, we'll not exactly Elio was just a different story.
"It's okay Stefan, you don't need to explain-"
"No, but I do. It's only fair." Stefan said cutting her off. shaking his head looking up immediately when she began speaking.
"Okay,"
Stefan sighs running his hand down his face.
"I'm not going to lie at first I was using you but not for what you think!" He yells immediately putting his hand up in defense. "I was using you as an experiment to see if I was truly gay," Stefan finishes looking down in shame.
Davina looked at Stefan in shock definitely not expecting what he just said. She thought it would have been something along the lines as in he didn't know if he was making a mistake on his engagement or something like that not that he was questioning his sexuality.
"I'm pregnant,"
Stefan looked up at Davina with a baffled look to which Davina gave him a grin shrugging her shoulders.
"I guess we both have our secrets."
Stefan smiled scratching the back of his neck. "You're not angry?"
Davina shook her head with a smile. "No, I'm shocked but not mad. If I'm being honest I wasn't looking for a relationship because I'm pregnant,"
Stefan nodded his head in understanding. "I get that, I'm still sorry though it was wrong of me to do."
"Don't be sorry Stefan, I just hope you know that Maria and everybody here won't judge you for who you are, we'll love you no matter what." Davina said with a smile putting her hand on his shoulder.
Stefan gave Davina a grateful smile the guilt slowly easing away but still there. Stefan glanced down at Davina's stomach, the cream sweater she was wearing hiding her growing belly.
"I can't even tell you're pregnant, how far along are you?" Stefan asked looking up in shock. "No judgement of course," he says holding his hands up with a smile.
Davina laughed, "You're okay, I'm almost four months I'll be finding out the genders hopefully next appointment."
"Exciting, have you told anyone else?"
Davina nodded her head. "Yeah pretty much everybody knows."
"I'm also assuming the father knows?" Stefan questioned raising an eyebrow.
Davina sighed nodding her head. "Yeah, but he's in the past and doesn't matter anymore."
"I'm sorry but it's his loss." Stefan says shaking his head crossing his arms over his chest. "Shall we go upstairs?"
Davina nodded her head but didn't say anything else as she finally stepping foot in the elevator.
The two rode back up to the room chatting about their lives before they knew one another. Davina had opened up about her relationship with Elio and the affair they had up until the beginning of her pregnancy, in return Stefan began telling her about his fiancé, Ernesto, who she found out Stefan had known since sixth grade and had been dating for nearly six years before Stefan had finally popped the question to Ernesto.
Davina could tell just by the expressions that would cross Stefan's face and the emotions that would flash in his eyes whenever he would talk about Ernesto she could tell that it was out of love and knew that it even take a blind man to see the love that he held for him, it made Davina happy to see even if she wasn't the one receiving it because Stefan seemed like a great guy and he deserved to be happy no matter who it was with.
"Did you want to get pregnant before you even found out?" Stefan asked once they had stepped back inside suite, the two girls no where in sight.
"In the future, yes but not during the time, no. But I also wouldn't change it, it took some time but I'm excited now."
"I'm glad to hear that," Stefan smiled sitting down on the couch. "I bet you get this a lot, but do you know what you want?"
Davina laughed, she had been getting that a lot especially since she's gotten closer to the time frame but she was still sticking to the same answer she always gave people;
"I'll be happy with whatever they will be."
"We'll I'd love to see two boys. I could teach them the importance of styling their hair." Stefan said pretending to fix his hair in a hand mirror.
Davina laughed shaking her head. "I can see that now,"
Stefan grinned just as the sound of two girls laughing entered the suite. Stefan gave Davina a glance before looking over his shoulder as Maria and Alice walked into the area they were in grins on their faces as they looked at Stefan and Davina conversing on the couch.
"How did the date go? Are you two in love?" Alice asked walking around the couch taking a seat on the coffee table.
Maria shook her head at Alice's question but didn't say anything as she took the empty chair across from them like a normal person wanting to know the answer to Alice's question.
Davina shook her head and looked over at Stefan who looked like he had just seen a ghost with his tan skin turning pale.
"Actually it wasn't that kind of date, we've decided that we're good as friends." Davina says to which Alice frowned not liking the answer.
"But why not? I thought you guys really liked each other," Alice pouted looking at the two like they were her fallen ice cone she dropped on the sidewalk.
Davina shrugged her shoulders opening her mouth but Stefan cut her off before she could even mutter a word.
"I'm gay."
Alice and Maria stare at Stefan in surprise, Alice looked more shocked whereas Maria had a slow grin appearing on her face which didn't surprise Davina, she knew she wouldn't have had a bad reaction she was the most understanding and loving person Davina knew.
"That's wonderful, have you had any boyfriends yet? Are you dating anybody currently?" Maria bombarded with questions as she got up from the chair and sat down next to Stefan on the couch.
Stefan immediately began telling Maria about Ernesto, the smile that was on his face moments ago back as he talked about the one he loved, a warm feeling settling in Davina's chest as she watched the exchange.
Davina wasn't lying when she said she wasn't mad at Stefan for using her to question his sexuality she understood where he was coming from and it actually made it a lot easier for her to continue on with the night knowing that he wasn't expecting anything romantic from her.
Stefan is an amazing guy and Ernesto is a lucky guy to have him but Davina wasn't looking for a relationship and she didn't plan on getting in one for a long time.
Davina glanced over at Alice who was listening to Stefan.
Satisfied with the nights outcome, Davina dismissed herself from the group letting the three converse while she retrieved to the bedroom the night taking a toll on her.
