Her attention soon moved from his neck to the speeding trailer moving towards them. She narrowed her eyes as she noticed the trailer seemed to have gained speed.
Hurriedly, she pulled the gear back and stepped on the accelerator. The car missed being smashed by the trailer which stopped almost immediately.
The driver turned to glance back at them and smiled wryly. However, he didn't try anything funny again as he balanced the car on the road and drove away.
This scene had been noticed by a lot of people. So immediately the trailer was gone, they stormed towards Davina's car.
"Miss, are you okay?" One lady beside Davina's window asked.
Davina nodded and unwound. "We're fine everyone. My friend seems to be a little shaken so we'll leave for the hospital first."
Everyone nodded their heads and watched as they drove away.
"Whatever happened there, I doubt that man didn't have the intention to kill them." One of the passersby said.
Davina obviously heard it and tightened her grip on the steering wheel. Dave was still fazed by the near death experience he just had so he was a little distracted to notice her angry look.
None of them said anything until the car stopped a street away from Dave's street. He snapped out of his daze and glanced around in shock. He turned to look at Davina and asked. "How did you know where I live?"
"There are a lot of things I know about you. I think your dad should be waiting for you already." Davina muttered.
"My dad? You know my dad?" The man asked in surprise.
Davina shook her head. "I don't, but I do know he's quite a worried type. The news media has covered what happened earlier."
Dave was naturally someone who acted on impulse so he failed to catch something from what she said.
He nodded and hurriedly got out of the car. "Bye partner!"
Davina nodded and watched calmly. After a few seconds, she got out of the car too and locked it. Quietly, she trailed behind the man and caught sight of a shadow following him.
"I knew something was wrong." Her wolf's voice came up immediately.
"Someone's trying to harm Dave. And not me. Something's not right." She muttered underneath her breath as she continued following after the shadow.
Dave on the other hand, kept walking, unaware of the danger behind him. The man following him also had no idea he had been spotted by Davina. Just as he was about to launch an attack, someone pounced on him.
He hissed as he was flung meters away, but soon got back on his feet. "Why aren't you dead?"
Davina shrugged. "It's not time yet, I guess."
"I think I should hasten it then." The man scoffed, preparing to dash towards her. However, when he glanced towards Dave's direction, he hissed and abandoned his plan of fighting her.
Davina cursed inwardly seeing her plan to distract him wouldn't work. Before she could come up with another trick, the man took off.
"He's sure sly."
"He's also dangerous." Her wolf chimed.
The man's speed was incomparable to hers as she had grown weak and he was also running fast.
She stopped and searched her pockets for her phone. She panicked seconds after searching her entire pockets and not feeling anything.
"What do I do now?!"
"I heard there's a way for mates to converse even without the mate bond." Her wolf who was always ever ready to help, muttered.
"Tell me already!"
"You need to be a little polite if you need my help, lady." Its voice scoffed.
"Fine! Can you please, help me?"
.
Dave had taken a turn when a voice whispered in his ears for him to run home that there was a man behind him.
Without caring who the voice belonged to or if the news it carried was real, he took off.
The man who had been chasing after him slowed down and looked at him in disdain. "So much to answer a man."
Just like Davina said, his father was right in front of the house. When he saw Dave, he widened his eyes in excitement and resisted the urge to move forward.
"Welcome son. I'm about heading out. Your food is on the dining table." The man said with a smile.
Dave was taken aback as he stared at his father in surprise. "You're going out?"
The older man rubbed his jaw with a light sigh. "I figured out I've been huddled up in the house for too long. I need to stretch out a little."
Dave nodded and made his way into the house. "Take your time and don't forget to have fun."
The older man nodded and walked towards his car. He got in and drove out.
Dave looked into the house and felt disturbed. He didn't know why, but he felt he was being watched by someone.
It had been a long time since he was home alone, so at the moment, he gripped tightly to the hem of his shirt as he breathed out rapidly.
"There's no one watching me in the house. I'm the only one at home. Yes, I'm the only one." He reassured himself glancing around.
The house was brightly lit, but it exuded a creepy feeling. His legs moved on their own and soon, he found himself before a door to the room his father had always warned him not to enter. No matter what.
As he stared at the door, he felt something was calling him and reached to grab the doorknob. However, at that moment, the sound of something breaking resonated throughout the entire house.
Whatever force that was pulling him towards the room, vanished. He shook his head and rushed downstairs to see what had fallen.
His eyes flashed as he stared at the glass cup which his father had obviously used earlier. When he passed by earlier, it was far away from the edge of the table, so why had it fallen?
