Visiting Her Father For Help

1037 Words
He didn't have to question for a long time as a figure made himself known in the living room. He glanced up at Dave and smiled slyly. "You scared that much?" Dave rolled his eyes. "Your tricks weren't nice at all." "I just wanted to test my younger brother. Didn't know he was still a scaredy cat who still couldn't stay alone." The man chuckled. His name was Erik, and he was Dave's adoptive elder brother. Dave glanced down at him and noticed the school bag behind him. "Where have you been? Was beginning to think you were dead." "Ha! Funny!" Erik tsked. "Unfortunately for you, I'm gonna live quite a long and satisfying life, much to your dissatisfaction!" Dave chuckled lightly, but said nothing in reply as he watched the man storm up to his room. He rubbed his head lightly as he asked himself if he had gone a little extreme with the joke. Walking to his room, he concluded he indeed had. He walked into his room and thrust his bag aside, then headed to the bathroom. He walked out minutes later dripping wet. After putting on his clothes, he walked down to the dining while calling Davina. However, she didn't pick. He called two more times, but the phone still went unanswered. He took his seat in thought, before he began eating, he sent a message. ..... The car came to a stop outside a glasshouse. She stared up at the house and gulped nervously. Davina turned off the car's engine and got out of it. Then she headed to the gate. The security man already sensed someone, so he hurriedly ran out to see who it was. Upon seeing Davina, his face brightened. "Miss Davina. You're back!" Davina waved her hand with a smile. "Just for a visit." "It's still good to have you visit." The man muttered and opened the gate. Davina didn't take the step immediately, but cautiously weighed the matter in mind. Three minutes later, she shrugged the feeling of helplessness and took the step. The next moment, she saw the familiar sight of her mother rushing towards her. The woman engulfed her in a hug. "Davina! You came!" She nodded and let the woman hug her for a few more minutes. The woman disengaged seconds later and led her into the house. "I'd make you your best food now, alright?" The woman patted Davina's shoulder as she tried to move away. "Mom, I didn't come here for that." Davina sighed, halting her. Without turning back, the woman retorted. "At least have something to eat." Davina nodded and no longer said anything. She walked to the sitting room and decided to watch some movies. Because she was deep in thoughts, she failed to realize the man who had been watching her from upstairs. When she finally noticed him, the man walked away. Her chest tightened as she recognized who it was. Her mother walked into the room with two plates of chicken soup. He handed one to her and took the other. Davina took up her spoon and twirled the soup slowly. Her mother who had already begun eating noticed her uneasy look, and sighed. "I have no idea what you're thinking, but you should refrain from making it worry and eat something." Davina snapped out of her daze and nodded. "Ok, mother. I'll see your husband when I'm done." Her mother's hand froze as she heard Davina refer to her father as her husband. However, she said nothing as she quietly watched the ongoing show on the TV. "I'd go see him now." Davina said, after more than ten minutes of silence. "Ok, he should be at his study." The older woman replied. Davina nodded and got up. With heavy footsteps, she made her way up to her father's study. She knocked twice on the door and heard him tell her to come in. Without another word, she pushed open the door and walked in. Luc didn't glance up at her as he asked nonchalantly. "What are you doing here?" "I came to ask for a favor." She replied, biting down on her lower lips. The man finally put down the pen in his right hand and looked up at her. "If it's about taking away your curse, I'm sorry, but I can't." Davina glanced to the side, trying to push back in the tears threatening to fall on her cheeks. "You can't do anything? At all?" Luc sighed. "I can't." "What do you mean you can't?!" Davina suddenly yelled, pointing a finger at him. "You placed the damn curse on me! How can you have no idea and power on how to reverse it!" "There's nothing I can do now. I already placed the curse on you, I expect you to find your mate In order to undo!" Davina couldn't believe her ears. Not only was the man still cold as ever, but he no longer cared much about her. "Do you still deem yourself fit as a father?!" The man stared at her calmly before nodding. "If I wasn't a good father I wouldn't have given you two choices to make other than leaving you with one." Davina watched him speechlessly. She glared hard at him before leaving the room angrily. "I made a mistake coming here!" The older woman expected her to come sit with her so they could talk more, but unexpectedly, he saw her leaving the house in a fit of rage. She sighed and dropped her place beside her. The space beside her went inside as Luc sat on it. "Luc, what did you say to her?" The man picked up Davina's unfinished food to eat. "The truth. It was quite bitter so she got upset and left." The woman sighed again. "We both know you can help her. Why don't you just fulfill her wish?" "I can't. I'd be disrupting a lot of things." The man replied almost immediately. "Her hatred for you will only grow stronger!" The woman scoffed and got up, heading towards the stairs. "Where are you going?" The man called in surprise, then glanced down at the finished bowl in his hand. "Can I get more?" "No!"
