Davina left the house in anger and drove towards another familiar route. She stopped before a bungalow and stormed.
Harriet, who had just assumed a meditating position, glanced up at the mirror before her. Because the mirror was directly facing the door, it captured Davina's face the moment she stepped in.
Davina glanced at the mirror and then Harriet who had a gentle smile on her face. "You still keep that creepy mirror around? So bizzare!"
Harriet threw the activity she planned on doing at a further time, then got up and folded the mat she sat on.
She walked towards the couch Davina reclined at and sat down opposite her. "What brings you to my humble abode?"
Davina glared at her. "Is this how you treat your guests?"
Harriet rolled her eyes. "You're not a guest. You're my best friend, but since my behavior is considered rude, what would you like to take, tea, coffee, or juice?"
"Don't you have wine?" Davina shrugged. All she wanted at the moment was to drown herself in self pity.
"Alcoholic wine." She quickly nodded and flashed a toothy grin at the surprised Harriet.
Before Harriet went ahead with her request, she said. "I'd give you the wine, but just so you know, you're staying in my place until tomorrow."
Davina really didn't care, so she nonchalantly waved her hand and the other woman nodded. "Bring in an alcoholic red wine."
It had been a long time Davina visited her, but that didn't mean she didn't recall Harriet's workers were likened to ghosts. They could stay in the house for a year and no one would be able to guess.
They cleaned the house normally, were normal and served their mistress normally, but it was done in what could be termed, a creepy way.
Before a minute elapsed, someone made her way towards them with a tray. Before Davina could look at her face, she had dropped it on the stool before them and taken off. She sighed. "Why are they so quick? I'm not that scary I'm I?"
Harriet smirked. She picked up the wine and poured wine onto the only empty glass on the tray. She dropped back the bottle, picked the filled glass and handed it to Davina.
Davina took it gracefully and drowned it in a hurry. Harriet, who was about to pick up the orange juice on the table, paused and frowned. "Don't get drunk so quickly! I still have a lot to talk with you about!"
Davina ignored her. She dropped the glass cup and since Harriet couldn't take wine, she swooped the bottle and drank directly from it.
Harriet snorted and took up her orange juice. She had a sip from it and moaned in satisfaction.
"So, what's making you so depressed?" She asked.
Davina sighed and took a big gulp from the bottle. She dropped it down seconds later and wiped a nonexistent drop from the corner of her lips.
"It's the curse. Father still doesn't want to take it off."
Harriet went silent. She gulped down her saliva a few moments later and said. "Did your Dad explain something to you?"
"Explain something to me? I'd say no." Davina said, shaking her head.
"Are you sure?"
"Yes."
"So you're telling me your father has never explained to you that he can't reverse the curse?" Harriet asked again, just to be sure.
Davina paused and recalled his words that afternoon before she made her way to Harriet's place. "He did say so. But, I doubt he's telling the truth."
"He's telling the truth. In fact, I think he did the right thing. With your strength back then, I doubt any of your practice opponents at the police academy would've made it out alive." Harriet sighed. Feeling the latter's probing gaze on her, she continued. "You might not have noticed, but you were growing a lot more powerful. So powerful that you were beginning to attract enemies."
Harriet stopped talking as she realized she had deviated. Rubbing her forehead lightly, she said. "Just bear with it for the meantime until you meet your mate. Or you can take over the reins of your father's pack."
"I'm not interested in his pack." Davina snorted. "In fact, I've..."
Davina suddenly stopped talking as she recalled Harriet was also hiding something important from her.
"What? Why did you stop?" The other lady asked in surprise.
Davina threw her face to the side and said. "Nothing, just thought of something urgent."
Harriet narrowed her eyes as she vaguely guessed the lady was hiding it away from her on purpose. Davina was the type that liked to talk about achievements and ones that were still far away, so suddenly pulling out at a time like this is suspicious.
"Do you have anything to ask me?" Harriet asked once again, fixing her eyes on the woman's facial expression.
"No." Davina replied sharply. He thought of something else and asked. "Other than the pill, is there no way to improve my stamina?"
Harriet looked her over, but before answering her question, she asked. "Are you under attack or just some small fries?"
"I am under attack! Just this afternoon someone tried to kill me and my partner in the office! I can't even lift up my head and fight him like the Alpha that I am!" She lamented, then laughed out loud.
She said nothing else other than staring into space and taking gulps from the bottle.
Harriet stayed with her for two hours, none of them saying anything. When her juice finished, a shadow brought her a jug of orange juice before disappearing.
They're stay was going peacefully until they both caught whiff of a smell. However, Harriet relaxed back on the cushion. "Relax, there's nothing to be worried about. Stray cats frequent here on a daily..."
She didn't get to finish her sentence as she sniffed harder and felt there was something wrong with this particular cat smell. Davina, on the other hand, laughed slightly. "That's the man after my life!"
