When Davina walked into the room, an unknown fear gripped her. She stopped and breathed out severely to calm herself.
It had been a long time since she felt such a fear. The feeling of a knife hanging just above her head. With a snap of anyone's fingers, it'd pierce through her skull.
"I've never waited for anyone before." Gregor sounded behind her.
The closeness made her recoil in fright and dash towards the door. Unfortunately, the man slid his hand around her slender waist, stopping her.
Davina stiffened. Although disgusted, she tried not to act rash by pushing him away. "I was asked to come see you."
The man chuckled, leaned towards her ear and whispered huskily. "I know that because I gave the order."
Feeling his hand moving up to her chest, she hurriedly held it. "I'm sorry sir, but I can't do this."
Gregor paused, then moved backwards, before laughing. "Davina Luc, you're an interesting one!"
"Not only do women plead to be on my bed, they also relish it. You're the first to ever then me down!"
His voice grew as he pronounced each word. Quickly, she lowered her head and said solemnly. "I'm so sorry! But...I can't bear to betray my mate."
"Oh, you're mate?" The man muttered, rubbing his hairy jaw. "Again, that's a first. But may I ask, who's your mate?"
Still with her head lowered, Davina deliberated on the question. She knew she had to be truthful because if she lied and the man found out, she had no idea what was bound to happen to her and Dave.
"It's him, the man you brought with me. The human."
"The human? No wonder he put on airs earlier!" The man huffed as a cold glint flashed across his eyes.
He was Gregor and he got whatever he wanted. There was absolutely no way he was going to lose to a human. No way!
.....
A figure stood quietly at the balcony with a bulky phone in hand.
Behind her, a woman stared at her with heartache. "Tabitha? You don't have to worry yourself, she'll be fine."
Tabitha looked straight ahead. "It's been three days, mom, but I still can't reach her. Something's wrong, I know that!"
Becky sighed and walked up to her. "I know, but look at the time. It's three in the morning, sleep and when you get up, we'd talk about this."
Tabitha stared emotionless for a few seconds before nodding. Wordlessly, she slipped back into the room, but before she slept, she sent out a text message.
She opened her eyes to a dazzling ray of light. She glared at the maid servant who was pulling up the window blind and thirst hit her.
She got off the bed much to the maid's surprise and scurried out of the room. Her thirst for blood was back and she could only satisfy it by drinking blood.
She stopped outside her door recalling there were pints of blood in her secret drawer. She pushed her door open and peaked at the young girl in the room. "Get out!"
Her words came out in a crawl which startled the girl. Without another word, she fled out of the room. The urge hit Tabitha so hard that she used her Vampire speed to search around.
Finally, she found it and gulped two pint of blood before regaining control of her body. She glanced at a corner of the room where she had hid the body of her maidservant and instantly felt guilty.
She thought of what to do until an idea occurred to her. She took out her phone and phoned Harriet. "I have a favor to ask of."
....
She stopped her car in front of the scary bungalow once more. People on the street stared at her with wide eyes seeing she was headed to the supposed haunted house.
A feeling lady even walked up to her to tell her the scary stories revolving around the house. Tabitha had thanked her for caring, but still walked in.
She met Harriet meditating. She was about to take a seat when the latter's eyes flew open startling her. This was because there was no trace of Harriet's white eyes, but only darkness.
It stayed that way for some seconds before returning to normal. Harriet got up from the position and moved to the sofa.
"I'm surprised." She chuckled. "Have you finally come to kill me?"
Tabitha scoffed. "Don't you feel weird and bored staying here? Like man, this place is so boring and silent like a graveyard!"
Harriet suddenly reveals a mysterious smile and inched closer to her. "Actually, the family which owned this house died in a car crash and all five of them were buried underneath this house, right here in the living room."
Tabitha stared boredly at her. "So what? I don't look like I'm scared of ghosts, do I?"
Harriet was disappointed. Why was she not scared? She had used such a frightening voice to coat her words. Forget it!
"So, what brings you to my gloomy place?" She asked with a sigh.
Tabitha, who had been running her mouth just some seconds ago, went mute. Harriet tilted her head to the side with a smile. "It's weird seeing you guilty. Tell me, what did you do this time? You've killed a lot of people so that shouldn't be the problem."
"My blood addiction is back." Tabitha finally breathed out.
"A vampire always needs blood. It's not some sort of a disease. It's no big deal."
"I killed two of my workers in a bid to satisfy my urge. They were both youths."
"Oh no, that's a big deal!" Harriet exclaimed. "So what do you think of doing now?"
"I have them hidden in my room. I have gotten some compensations to their families but their corpse is too weird. Their blood is gone and they look pale."
"I get it now, you want me to infuse some blood and flesh into them."
